This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Touring adds up to fun--with one minus - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

The Touring has all the bells and whistles. I do not look forward to replacing the PAX tires in the future. Car is quiet and solid. Major gripe: hatch does not seal out water at bottom and leaves a horrid rust streak where bumper and hatch meet. This is pathetic!

  • Odyssey Has "Irreparable Noise"! - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I have owned an Odyssey for 6 weeks. I own or have owned two other Hondas with zero problems. After two weeks, this Honda began making funny under-hood noises. I have returned the vehicle to Honda three times in six weeks - I have been told three different stories: there is no problem, there is a "normal" non-repairable noise in the anti-lock brake system, and there is a "normal" noise in the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system. Dont worry - your brakes are fine! I have never owned a vehicle with such a problem - including two other Hondas. I believe Honda has a problem and does not yet have a fix. The noise has gone from nil, to intermittent, to every time you start and drive it.

  • Drivers seat is uncomfortable - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I like the way the van handles. The van has been very reliable so far. The van is very uncomfortable to drive on long trips (200+ miles).

  • Gas Guzzler - 2006 Honda Odyssey

With all the Honda Odysseys good points; like features, build quality, resale value, etc. They are quickly forgotten when gas consumption is lousy. This van gets barely over 15 mpg/city. This is dissapointing for a current vehicle.

  • Good and Bad - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

The Good:Have the model w/the engine that goes to 3 cylinders-mixed driving mileage 22-25.Looks nice.Seats are supportive.Good pickup.Very roomy (Im 64" and have headroom even w/sunroof).Bad: Although the illuminated dash looks good,I am new to this feature. My old cars dashes required headlights on for illumination. This is a safety issue.I dont always remember to turn on the headlights right away.Should be automatic w/sensors for dark. The power sliding door does not always close properly, causing a beeping noise only when van is in gear(no indication other than that).I have to turn off the feature when driving.Drivers side window is noisy at times.Tires often squeal with light acceleratn

I purchased this van for my wife that said she would never drive a minivan. Im overwhelmed on how it drives like an Acura more than a Honda. I would reccomend anybody with kids to get this one.

  • Family fun - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We have been driving this van for two weeks now, up from a 2004 Honda CRV. It is very roomy inside, the base model has all I want, the ride is very comfortable. The amount of cargo room is impressive because the floor is very low (the spare tire is under the middle seats) I tried the 2006 Sienna: downshifting from 5th to 4th was very noticeable, not on the Sienna. Other than that, they are very similar. Note: the van can accomodate only three child seats: two in the middle row, one at the center of the third row -- read my problem with hooks below. With a child seat in the third row, you cannot lower the widest portion (60%) of the third row, only the narrowest (40%).

I just want to start off by saying this is a great van. Its great on gas and it drives like a car. My two girls love this van. The dvd player was way too much, w/navi system so opt. not to have and just installed the dvd my self. Great van, number one choice in my book.

  • EX-L RES/NAV So far so good. - 2006 Honda Odyssey

My wife and I have only had the van for two weeks, and will update the review once I put a few thousand miles on it. It is a joy to drive and the kids enjoy the DVD system.

  • Oil Leak From Day One - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

My brother bought the car on 9/18/2006 from ValStrough Honda in Monterey, CA. He drove the car home (30 miles) and parked it in the garage. Two days later, I discovered a puddle of oil under the car. I checked under the car and it seemed to be leaking from the oil pan gasket. My brother took the car back immediately. The service dept was already closed so they checked the car the next day. They acknowledged that there was "oil residue", but were unable to find the source or replicate the leak. They told my brother drive it around some more and bring it back if it leaks again. He drove it home. Still leaking! Big Surprise! Hes going to take it back tomorrow. Ill keep you posted.
