  • Great Car - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

I got this car used, to replace my 97 Accord. I really like this car. it has about 25k miles on without even the hint of a problem. Ironically enough I was rear ended (correction- Plowed through) 4 days after I bought the car. I was rear ended at about 30 mph by a brand new Chevy Malibu. Her car was totalled. Mine had 7k worth of damage. I am very impressed at how well my Civic stood up in that accident for being such a small car. Anyways, it took them about 3 weeks to fix my car and its as good as new. If your looking for a semi-inexpensive car that has very low operating cost, high reliability and is also fun then go with a Civic. You just cant go wrong with a Honda

i purchased it new back in 03. i now have a little over 175,000 miles on it. its been the most dependable car. i still drive it hard... dirt roads, 120 degree heat, 1200 mile trips in 8 yrs. few yrs ago, i was rear-ended on the freeway resulting in some extensive damage, but still runs strong despite virtually no maintenance work on it.. so far, Ive changed brake pads once, spark plugs once, air filter twice, and last few times, Ive gone over 9000 miles between oil changes. havent done any tune ups, alignment, radiator flushes, or clutch work done yet. Im averaging 32-34 miles with 70/30 city/freeway driving.

  • Transmission/Clutch Recall Info - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

There was a recall on the transmission (Judder Slippage - the car rumbles when accelerating, esp noticeable going uphill). According to protocol, they have to do this "burnishing procedure" 3 times, at which point they will replace the entire clutch on your transmission (for free, under the recall). You also need to be under 100K mi to be eligible. My car is at 98K....theyre just about to replace my clutch, so Im very excited about that. Other than this one issue, my car has been running perfectly. Ive been keeping track of MPG for over 10K, and Im averaging 46.5 MPG. Im absolutely thrilled (and confused that some people claim to get only 35 MPG).

  • Fun Coupe - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Some might think I stepped down from my box of a Jeep to a Honda Civic HX, I think I stepped into a reliable, sleek, just plain fun to drive car. I cannot agree with some who say it lacks power in the upper gears, I find it quite tenacious at high speeds on little-traveled highways in Montana. However, in the lower gears Im not as impressed. With its slow acceleration from stop, left turns across lanes of traffic are sometimes hair-raising experiences. Quiet, dependable, long gaps between gas stops make this a great car, especially for those who are just breaking out of college and living on their own.

  • Economical (but slow and noisy) Honda - 2003 Honda Civic

Lets get one thing straight. I love Hondas. Not because Im "on the bandwagon", but because Ive owned five of them. Accords, Civics, and even a DOHC Del Sol. I have always been treated with the utmost respect by all of Hondas personnel, and the darn cars just refuse to break, no matter how hard Ive pushed them (did I mention the 160+hp DOHC VTEC Del Sol?) My work commute suddenly grew to 35+mi. each way last Nov., so I had to trade the V-10 4X4 in on something, shall we say, more practical...and a whole lot more reliable.

  • All right at first - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

This car was all right at first, just a little vibration due to a loose motor mount. The transmission went out 5 months later and its broken beyond repair is what I was told. Itll total 3 grand for a new one and I need to shell out cash for worn left and right bushings, a leaky cv boot, and a new motor mount. Dont bother buying unless you can get it from dealer under warranty.

  • Long live the si - 2003 Honda Civic

This car has been great! Ive driven it for a few years now and Im ready to buy a new one. The handling is great on cornering with the right tires. Acceleration isnt amazing, but hey its a 4 banger. The only complaint is the cost to repair. Nobody has parts and most people dont even know what kind of car it is. If youre a young kid and you want something with low maintenance and fun to drive this is it. Or if you live in a city its so easy to park. Great little car! Owning this car has made my wife and I Honda enthusiasts.

  • My Little Honda!! - 2003 Honda Civic

My Little Honda and I have been on several road trips together and we have both survived!! She is a beauty and she is fun to drive. Her small size and get up and go helps me maneuver in and out of traffic very efficiently. Right now, she is at about 120,000 and is doing great!!

  • Transmission! - 2003 Honda Civic

I purchased my 2003 brand new and most of my mileage was freeway for 4 of the 6 years. Positives: Mileage 38 mpg town and over 45 Hwy. Fun and zippy Negatives: Transmission at 90m bad noise and at 110 embarrassing. Its said to be a Civic problem avg. at 120m. Heater vents above stereo. In the winter with loud music blew 4 different Honda stereos before they put a Pioneer in for me. Replaced catalytic at 60m. Trunk leaked from day 1 under trunk and they never found it. Thank God Im in So.Cal. I have had a bad time with my Honda, but still loved it. I can say I will not buy another when it finally dies!

This is a fun, reliable car that I plan to have for many years. Although Ive only had it for a little less than a year now, it hasnt given me any problems and I would still buy it if given another chance.
