This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Not as good as previous models - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Handling not as good as 2002 Accord I had before. Doors are hard to close. Controls for air condidtioning, defrost, etc. poorly located, which makes it necessary to take your eyes of the road. Hood cannot be opened unless you get out of car. Dashboard lights go on when you open the door, then get brighter when you put on the key, then go off, then go on again when you turn on the key. All these games with the dashboard lights are very annoying and serve no purpose. I like the gas gauge and I appreciate the excellent gas mileage, but all in all, I am disappointed with this car. Not as good as the previous Accords I owned.

  • Accord Leather is cheap! - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I have a 2006 Accord EX/Leather and the leather on the Accord is cheap! I wear dress pants to work and now the leather on the driver seat has little white marks (or holes) where it lost its black color. I drive the car for about 30 minutes each day. My office pants rubbing against the leather should not cause it to lose its color! The other issue I had is the AC condenser was damaged by road debris because it is made of soft material and there is no mesh or grille in front to prevent debris from flying in.

  • Problems with Hybrid - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I thought the bugs were out of this car when I purchased it. I was wrong. In cold weather, around 20 degrees, or less, it runs rough with a power loss and thats not acceptable for a $30,000 vehicle. I only have 3000 miles on the car. Honda replaced a "module" and the problem is still there. This tells me Honda does not know what to do. In warmer temperatures, it runs fine. Id love to hear from other Accord Hybrid owners who have this problem, and what you did to solve it. I need help. These cars are rare and I see none on the road and no one to talk to. Id like to give some expensive, free advice to anyone considering this Hybrid. Wait. There are problems. Thank You, Wyatt

  • I hear imports were suppose to be better - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Always heard honda, toyota etc... were suppose to be so much better than chevy, ford, dodge etc... I must say I dont really find that to be true. The V-6 Accord is a nice car, dont get me wrong, however I dont find it to be SO much better than the chevys or pontiacs I have had. Thanks but no thanks, next time ill save a few thousand and buy another Chevy.

  • More than a little disappointed - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Many more rattles than I figured from the highly "Acclaimed" Honda. Velor interior starts showing wear at less than 10,000 Mi. Right now, Im sorry I bought it. Dont think Id buy another Honda. Well see how well the dealership stands behind it.

  • Rock solid - 2006 Honda Accord

Picked up my cool blue metallic ex v6 coupe a few days ago but am very pleased with the overall performance of this car. Color is beautiful with the soft black leather interior. Driving a stick shift for over 35 years and wanted an auto for a change. Still have my 00 civic si to drive if i want to drive a manual. Car feels bullet proof with a nice thud when closing the door. Overall very happy with the car and feel reliability should be very good.

  • Pleasantly Surprised - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Pros: The 4-cylinder engine has quicker response and more pick-up than I expected (and way more than the Nissan Altima 2.5). The interior is nice, not cheap (again unlike the Nissan Altima) and very comfortable both for me (at 5 and for my husband at 64"). The ride is quiet, smooth, and hugs the road. We were in the market for a fuel- efficient mid-size car and looked at the Altima and the Toyota Camry (our other car is a Toyota 4-Runner). Honda was our last stop because we werent really interested in owning a Honda (everyone has one...), but one test drive changed our minds and we are pleasantly surprised everytime we drive somewhere!

  • Too much mileage saving Hype - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

So far so good, but I bought the hype; and reality needs to be determined. I liked going the 5,000 miles between oil changes, I believe the mileage projection capability over promised what the car actually delivers. City driving about 24 MPH, On the highway, no Air conditioning, average speed control of 70 MPG, the mileage was 28 MPH. I expected much better

  • Just bought it - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

The car seems built for an average height person. Being 6 6", I find it difficult to "fit" in a car. The center console seems low, the headrest too far down and the left door armrest is way too low. Considering I drove an Audi TT Quattro Roadster convertible for four years prior to buying this Accord, one would think I have tons of space and roominess now, but that is not the case. There was more leg room, seat room and arm room in the TT than the Accord. The Accord doesnt seem to handle well either, but that will take some getting used to, as its not a sports car. A great feature with the Accord is its reliability.

  • Just my assessment - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Overall Nice car. Have some annoying squeaks from the dashpot when cold. Some rattle from the right side also. Appears to be from the glove compartment. Good gas mileage. Quick heat. Nice stereo. Price has dropped since last year. You probably can buy them for at least 500 below the dealer invoice, around $19,400, maybe less.
