This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • My Sporty New Accord EX-L Navi - 2006 Honda Accord

I did my home-work at Edmunds.com & Hondas website, which was pretty good. It helped me pick the car, color, & options, for a list price. Using a buying service, helped me get a great price! Actually driving a new one, showed me much improvement over my 97 Accord LX. The horsepower up 36, is at 166 & zippy! I ordered RED with spoiler, fog lights, & black bra, which gets the looks! The gray leather is excellent, making me feel like Im in my Dads Lexus. The CD Sound System, with XM radio, is superb & the cruise control right-on. What makes it really fun is the Navigation System. It controls the CD/Radio/XM & Air Conditioning with Voice Commands. I get 24 to 31 mpg, urban/hwy. Nice!

  • Accord Hybrid Powerfull And Economical - 2006 Honda Accord

This car has a 255 HP, handles like a Acura TL, more room than the Acura and Im getting 9 miles to the gallon more than the Acura. The Accord Hybrid out the door price was $5000 less than the Acura.

The Accord drives great. I dont think its any better than the Acura. As it gets broke in more, it seems to get better and better. The V-6 is powerful but if youre not looking for performance, the 4 banger has plenty of power and better MPGs.

  • Look Carefully Before You Buy - 2006 Honda Accord

Blinded by Honda reputation. Did not look as carfully as we should have. Seats are very hard. No lumbar adjustment. Brakes very touchy. Sheet metal is thin, almost dents by pushing on it. Paint quality not good (lots of orange peel). Not smooth, steering wheel and shifter vibrate at idle, worse when cold. Glass in windshield is poor quality, lots of distortion. Its an inexpensive car that will probably run great for a long time but it is clear that they needed to cut corners to keep the price down. In retrospect, something else would have been a better choice.

  • Made a Mistake - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I have only had this car two months and knew the first day I had made a mistake. It is very uncomfortable, hard to get in and out, and rides very rough. We are already looking for a larger car to replace it with. The Accord is a small car and should not be referred to as a family sedan. It is more suited for teenagers and young adults who arent interested in comfort.

  • Beware of New Automatic Trans - 2006 Honda Accord

I had less than 200 miles before the torque converter went. At 400 miles Honda replaced the transmission. I thought Hondas were supposed to be "bullet-proof".

  • From Dodge to Honda - 2006 Honda Accord

I was a little apprehensive about purchasing my first 4 door car. I love the V-6 the Honda offers...definitely worth the extra money. Smooth ride and handles great. The sunroof is awesome and the 6 disc cd player rocks. I will probably be sticking with the imports for my next purchase.

  • Hard to get more for your money - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

My experience got off to a rough start. On my drive home, the transmission popped out of first gear. Took it to the dealer and had to twist their arm to admit there was a problem - then had the car in the shop for 10 days so they could replace first gear. After a couple months the problem appears to be solved. That said, the transmission shifts like a dream. Why anyone drives automatics is truly a mystery to me. The interior is great and roomy, nav and xm are great - especially the xm. I do wish the car had beefier brakes and better (more sporty) tires. But I can always upgrade in the future. Gas mileage is about 25 in mixed driving and 32 hwy. Engine is powerful and smooth.

  • 4 cyl surprise - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Very pleasantly surprised by the responsiveness of the 4 cyl. Lots of room in seating area and trunk. Comfortable driving position with telescopic adj steering wheel. Attractive white on black instrument cluster. Good sound system. Traded in a G35 Sedan for improved gas mileage. Ride not as smooth as the Infiniti, and handling not quite as steady, but not bad.

  • Nine month review - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

Im sick of reading the reviews that say "had the car 2 days, best car EVER". Ive had this one 9 months and it is a great car. I dont buy BMWs or Mercedes or Audis -- just Hondas, so Im not going to complain how this car doesnt compare to them. You want a Honda, then this is the car to buy. The mileage is decent but not Civic-like, but then its a V6 not a 4 cylinder. Leather is comfortable and seats heat well. AC is great and it handles perfectly well (at least at the sane speeds I drive) so I cant help you if you want to drive at 90 mph+. But if youre just an "Average Joe" and just want reliable, decent, fairly priced vehicles, safe for the family, then this is the one to get
