This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • 2006 Honda Accord New Owner - 2006 Honda Accord

Changing from a Durango to Honda Accord has been quite emotional & Im still grieving but gas mileage is more important. New owner for 3 weeks; handling is okay but doesnt take bumps well. Going in for service b/c have recently noticed front glass appears to have come unglued?? - squeaking noise full length of glass next to hood when you go over bumps. If you like your music, make sure it gives the power you want. For me, depending on what youre listening to, sound doesnt go up high enough.

  • good car - 2006 Honda Accord

I like this car generally, although a few things annoy me about it. First is the high catch point on the clutch makes it a little hard to drive at first until you get used to it. Also, the light steering on this car make it follow the grade of the road too much. I thought the alignment was out, but it just tracks the road curvature a lot. The seats collect lint very easily. The brakes are really grabby.

  • V6 4 Door Manual - 2006 Honda Accord

Great car, has an abundance of power especially with the manual. The car does everything more than well but nothing perfect. It is a jack of all trades that gets good gas mileage as well.

  • Great engine terrible seats - 2006 Honda Accord

I traded in an F150 for my Accord for gas mileage. So far I am completely satisfied with the performance and mileage of the 4cyl. My biggest complaint is the front seats are rock hard and the lumbar is too high and not adjustable. I spend a lot of time driving and have constant back pain from the seats. Despite the impressive engine, I wish I could get rid of the car already because of the seats. My other complaint is the brakes are extremely touchy and lock up very easily when wet (from rain, etc.).

  • Nice, but not a "sport" sedan - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

All the normal great things you get from Honda, good design, comfort, reliability. The engine is powerful and smooth, and the 6-speed transmission adds some sportiness. But dont fool yourself, this car is sill a Honda Accord. Youre not getting a "cheaper" sports sedan by going to the manual. Doesnt handle like a Buick, but leaves something to be desired. The car needs a better handling package, upgraded suspension with wider tires and upgraded brake system.

  • its okay - 2006 Honda Accord

Loud road noise. Annoying. Radio is too week for proper adjustment of road noise. Problems with the heater, runs hot and cool. Remote sucks, I need to be up against the car just about, might as well use the key. Tires on this car are too expensive and not necessary for this model (speed rating wise). Pick up lags a bit. Pulls to the right even on flat roads with the explanation by trained factory techs "all Honda accords do this and we like to call it the 6 second rule", thats stupid. Did I mention the poor remote reception? Cool looking radio minimum features, no speed volume increase, mute. Wipers are poor and the defogger works 1/3 of the windshield. Otherwise great color!

  • Last Honda for me .... - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

After owning Hondas for the last 30 years I am on my last one. Why you ask? Its the dealers and Honda corporate US. My local dealer service dept has one great service manager and I could do without the remainder of this dept. They continue to increase oil change fees and recently wanted to charge $129 for a transmission fluid change. Went to another dealer and got it done for $49. HONDA CORP if you read the online forums then please note you have lost another customer. I am tired of dealers nickel /diming me to death. $300 for a 30k service and the main thing you do is oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter ?!?!?! Sorry, guess its Toyota from now on.

Awesome little car my first Honda, I can see now why Honda gets all the press. The only beef I have is Im not very pleased with the front seats my back hurts after driving a distance in this car but overall I am very pleased. This car glides along you barely know youre driving it.

  • The rumors are true! Solid car! - 2006 Honda Accord

Smart choice, great looks, reliable and an all around solid car. Have had it for roughly a year and still glad I chose it!

  • Okay car, but not worth the hype - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought this car after hearing rave reviews and have been very disappointed. V6 has the power, but the handling is substandard. The AC comes on when car is started up. \Such a pain to have to turn it off every morning. I paid 27 for this car and trade in value 19k. Previous car was VW Passat and the Germans have the answer with handling. Will not buy another Honda, will go back to VW or look elsewhere.
