This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • A very nice car for the price - 2006 Honda Accord

I had a test drive on 2004 BMW 325i, 2.5 L, - and, unexpectedly, was disappointed. The 6 speed V6 Accord is the best idea so far. This car is clearly not boring. Driving is GREAT!!! The only problem remains is the ROAD NOISE.

I was a former owner of a 2004 EX V6, which was totaled in February with minimal damage to myself and passengers. I took delivery of my EX-L in March and I can safely say that I will keep this car for at least 7 years. I like the pep of the big 4-cylinder engine, the smooth ride balanced with good handling, upscale interior and exterior, and the steadily improving gas mileage.

  • Great car, needs a few changes - 2006 Honda Accord

This car is great in some ways but can use improvement. The seats are a bit hard but comfortable. The leather is great. The ride is stiff. Handiling is great. The car is quiet and shifts into other gears smoothly with great pickup. I think the car should have been made a bit larger and the ride should be smoother.

  • After 10,000 Miles, heres my review - 2006 Honda Accord

Yes its dependable. It has some get up and go. But its a dull, boring car. The automatic transmission grabs and seems clunky. Descending hills and approaching stops, the transmission holds the car back and there is no way to turn this "feature" off. Apparently the feature is called "brake assist", but there needs to be an off button for this and there is not. Its very tough to get used to. I rented a Maxima on a recent trip and that was VERY nice. Fast, fun to drive, more leg room and no grabby transmission. In my opinion, if youre interested in the Accord, test drive the Maxima first.

  • Excellent except - 2006 Honda Accord

Great car, I average aprox. 33 mpg combined. On trips it goes up to approx. 38 mpg. Biggest complaint is the gear box, it has a tendency to shift into 3rd rather than overdrive. Otherwise excellent.

We took a 2000 mile road trip a week ago. We didnt really care for the comfort of the front seats for a trip that long, although the driver could at least adjust the seat position more.

  • Comparing 06 Accord to 07 Camry - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

First Honda purchase with a 06 LX SE. Looked extensively at 07 Camry and decided on Honda primarily due to interior and cost. Driven for 1k miles so far and really like the car; however, ride comfort and road noise are less than acceptable and no comparison to Camry. I am quite shocked at the ride quality. Good value for the money, but would encourage Camry if the ride quality is important.

  • Great car, not great mileage! - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought this car thinking I was going to get 30mpg average, but I was wrong. I get 23-25 and to me I was only saving really little on gas. I love the car overall; the quality, the smoothness, the features, the power and performance. I mean for 30-33k I think I could of gotten the other accords and saved money and gas. They made the build (exterior) look the same and you really have to drive that car really really slow to even get 25-30 mpg. I am upset for them to even advertised 38 mpg because I have never gotten that good of a mileage driving smooth and slow.

  • Your Best Choice! - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

The car is the best value for under $30,000. Its fast, and handles great! Quiet interior. Lots of soft touch everywhere. Leather seats are comfortable and made with soft high quality leather. Standard sound system with built in XM doesnt drop signal anywhere and sounds great. Holds its value for years and is one of the most reliable cars ever made. Get yours too and dont skimp, Get the EX V-6.

  • Wish it was a bit better!!!! - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

This is my 3rd new honda in the past 3yrs for my family. 2 previous were practically flawless, however this one has been somewhat of a PIA. 3rd gear is problematic to shift into at times, and dealer "cannot replicate the problem". Id challenge they havent really tried. Known problem for this transmission in a minority of cars. I dont have time to do other peoples jobs so I suffer through it. Otherwise I really like the car, its very comfortable, handles well, is good in winter etc. Just wish that MPG was a bit better, I have yet to hit the HWY rating even at 65mph on even interstate Im falling 3-4mpg short. 3rd Gear is synchro issue, but dealer wont fix it, making car less fun.
