This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • I Love This Car! - 2006 Honda Accord

Had several SUVs in the past 7 years. Decided to downsize to my Honda due to gas prices and lack of driving excitement. Will not buy an SUV again. What can I say, its a wonderful car. I commute 70 miles per day, averaging 25 mpg from 65% highway, 35 % city driving. Great power, especially accelerating at highway speeds even though I must say, I test drove the Accord EX 4CYL model and found it to have more than enough power. I felt that the V6 had a nicer look though (larger wheels, dual exhaust). It has the feel of a very well made car. Great looking interior (tan leather, with fray/tan dashboard) and very comfortable power seats up front. Nice size car, and the new rear end looks great.

  • Noisy Bumpy Ride - 2006 Honda Accord

I am very disappointed with the noisy and bumpy ride – it is atrocious, especially on concrete freeways. Why wasn’t this issue reported in the other reviews, including the professional reviews? I think Honda should have stuck to making motorcycles!

  • Gold Accord EX V6 - 2006 Honda Accord

I have owned this vehicle for about 6 months now and currently have 7200 miles on it. No problems whatsover to date. Previously owned a 2000 Honda Accord LX with V6. Performance has greatly increased going from a 200 Horsepower V6 to 244 Horsepower. Transmission shifts seamlessly and throttle response is almost immediate. This is a very decked out ride for the money. Build quality is good but nothing spectacular. The car comes standard with many features but does not have option for blue tooth. Gas mileage is good for a V6 with this many horses under the hood (Avg. 22 city 29 Hwy). I am happy with this vehicle and would probably buy again. Might take a look at the new 2007 Camry.

Great car. Good on gas. Bought it at 92,000 miles. Have 125,000 miles on it now and just replaced the timing belt and fan belt. Should get another 90,000 miles out of it. I deliver pizzas in it and it is excellent on gas. Synthetic oil only i use every 4,000 miles. Great car!!!

  • 1st Honda Ive owned - 2006 Honda Accord

I just bought my 1st Honda. My last car was an 02 Toyota Camry. I really liked that car and it was difficult for me to decide between the 07 camry and the 06 accord. I bought the accord due to its exceptional interior, its quality, and the price I received. I very much enjoy the sunroof, the leather seats, the xm radio, and the interior in general. The only thing that I miss with the camry is the smooth ride. The Accord is quiet and smooth until you go over bumps, and its more rougher than Im used to. But, I think it will be easy to overlook that with all the other fine features of the Accord.

  • good on power not on handle - 2006 Honda Accord

Just bought 2006 LX V6 and drove 450 miles. Engine is good and has enough power, Nice quality inside and outside. City/Highway is about 20 mile/gallon. This car is not as solid as our 2003 VW passat on highway. The reason why we bought Accord is its history of reliability. Our 2003 VW Passat has too many problem although it is much more fun to drive than Accord. We almost sent Passat back to repair every three months. Our Acccord has too much road noise. It is a very soft driving car. When you push hard, first thing you feel is the "lag".

  • Very good car - 2006 Honda Accord

Purchase a 2006 VP with M/T. Excellent car, comfortable but at the same time provides a sporty feel. Well designed interior with above average fit and finish. Best 4 cyl. engine in its class, revs without effort with good power delivery. Nice steering feel, just needs more on-center feel. After 14,000 miles only problem is a little bit of noise coming from the front passenger area, something is vibrating on bumpy roads. Trying to identify the source before taking it to the dealer. Do not like the maintenance reminder system, would prefer a table in the owner’s manual with miles and/or months at which the car should be service. Beware of dealer’s preventive maintenance.

  • Cant beat a honda - 2006 Honda Accord

I baught my honda about a year ago, and I have to say that I am very pleased overall. It could be a little better in the snow, but still does ok in the winter. My only dissapointment was when I went to trade the car in a few weeks ago to upgrade to an 07, and the dealership told me that they would give me $16,500 on trade in for it. (baught new for about $25,000) a little dissapiointing seeing as thought I thaugt hondas were suppose to keep their value well. Still a great car though. I have no problem holding on to.

  • Fuel economy? - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

My Accord is only 1,300 miles old, and I am consistently getting only 17 MPG when it claims to get 20 - 29. Is there something wrong here? I was expecting at least 22 MPG. I drive mostly short, city drives, but I still averaged only about 17 mpg on a tank of gas that included about 120 miles of highway driving at an average of 65 mph. Perhaps I will contact Honda to inquire. The drivers seat could be more cushy - its a little stiff and thin feeling. Brakes are a tad grabby - wondering if that will subside over time. Other than those issues, I think it is a well made car and the drive is very sporty and solid.

  • Fun car, lacking a little oomph. - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

This is my first car. Its a great first car: safe, reliable, relatively stylish. I regret getting the 4 cylinder engine though. Gas mileage is great, but it lacks the extra oomph I like on the highway or simply starting off at a green light. The interior is beautiful - I got all of the features and the navigation is extremely easy to use. In conclusion: great coupe! Great first car! If you like speed and power, get the V6.
