Overview & Reviews
The Freestyle is an all-new crossover wagon from Ford. Built on a Volvo platform, it incorporates the Swedish brand's safety and all-wheel-drive technology, while offering six- to seven-passenger seating capacity.
- Truly roomy seating for six passengers, plenty of cargo space, balanced ride and handling characteristics, lengthy list of safety features.
- So-so acceleration, some low-grade interior materials, no stability control or navigation system.

Finally getting it right - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By wheaties99 - September 18 - 10:00 amI must say after being extremely dissapointed with the Explorer,Ford seems to be on the right track. Im 6 2" and have never had more room in any vehicle. Acceleration is good. gas mileage is excellent for a vehicle its size and the trans is extremely SMOOTH. It feels very funny to not feel it shifting. It is also reasonably priced while being loaded up with a lot of goodies. Definately a good buy.

Great buy-Good Ideas - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Big Ed - August 7 - 1:00 pmI like to haul several passengers but was tired of pouring $50 bills into the gas tank of my Eddie Bauer Expedition. Checked this and most other crossovers out. Decided to try the Freestyle and have no regrets. It is comfortable, sporty, and has easy access to back seats. It is truly fun to drive. There is little or no road noise. Gas mileage is short of the 27 estimated on the sticker but big improvement from the Expedition. The seating flexibility is unbelievably simple to use. Plenty of room for bulky items. I would highly recommend it!

Family Dream - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Satisfied Owner - August 2 - 6:21 pmMy wife chose the Freestyle as a family car while I was overseas, the family (wife and three daughters)enjoyed it for six months. When I returned for vacation I had the opportunity to drive it for a week. I loved the style, handling, color, gas mileage for the times, in-city and highway, spaciousness and cargo capacity. Only regular maintenance and general upkeep required. We loaned it to my sister in- law (a Chevy fan)for 6 months, and now she is a convert. Friends unfamiliar with the vehicle also enjoyed the comfortable ride, leg space and features.

Extremely happy with the Freestyle - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Mary - July 31 - 3:46 pmMy husband had to trade in his F150 when we had our son -- we were planning on buying an Explorer but fell in love with the Freestyle. It is great for families and extremely roomy (would definitely recommend the bucket seats for the second row instead of bench seating for easier access to the third row). It is a great car/SUV mix. You sit higher than a car but a tad lower than an SUV. Very easy handling and is a smooth drive because of the transmission. We have been extremely happy with the Freestyle!

Great Ski Car - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By JimfromSanClemente - July 11 - 9:23 amWe bought this car primarily to take on ski and bicycle trips. We are extremely satisfied with how the Freestyle handles in snow and ice. On one day last winter in blizzard conditions, and with no chains, we had no trouble navigating up a steep driveway that no other car in the lot, including a Hummer, could manage. Very comfortable, roomy, and well designed interior. Zero mechanical problems to date.

New Ford is Fun! - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By AGMG - June 27 - 1:46 pmI have nothing to complain about with this car. My wife owned a 95 Ford Taurus for 10 years and 182,000 miles prior to our purchasing this car. When we compared it to the 05 Taurus, Expedition and Explorer, it was obviously the best choice for our needs and dollar. Although the CVT takes a little time to get used to because youre used to hearing the car shift, it doesnt lack in performance as many of the auto magazines writers have claimed. Its not a hot rod sports car, but it will get up and out of its way ... you just have to know how to make it do it. We love it and hope they last for another 10 years ... maybe well buy another one then!

Crossover - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By acmpam - April 17 - 9:30 amThis vehicle replaced our 02 Expedition. We have doubled our fuel mileage and seem to have gained room for the occupants. Shopping can now be accomplished without folding down the third row seats (Expedition). Living in a hilly terrain the engine size is just right (not the fastest on the road but considering mpg just right). Ford has a winning vehicle with the Freestyle which we feel is a better buy than the Cadillac SRX .

8000 miles down - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By dad2dlj - April 15 - 6:20 pmAfter 8000 miles in 3 months, I continue to be truly pleased with my Ford Freestyle. Gas mileage has been very good (20 mpg with very heavy stop/go traffic); comfort has been great in all seats on long trips; and absolutely no problems/defects/issues experienced to date.

Ford Got This One Right! - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By David Broadwater - April 10 - 6:40 pmI think Ford got it right on this one! I do not know what vehicle the review people drove, but I found more than enough power on the highway for passing, climbing hills or just taking off from the toll both. I do agree about the substandard cloth used on the seats. Other than that, the Freestyle has either lived up to or surpassed all expectations. The engine noise could be a little better, but its not nearly as noisy as my Windstar was. The handling is good and braking is good, and the most important things is that my wife likes it.

I Love My Freestyle - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By SuzyQ - April 10 - 12:06 amAll I can say is I love my Freestyle. We are in the construction business and so it is great when I have to load up the car with anything from paint to 2x4s. We also need to haul our daughter & her friends everywhere. It hold 7 easily and they actually love to ride in the very back seats. The DVD player is great for those long trips. We have taken several trips and we get 27mph on most trips. We live in the mountains and it gets 19mph most weeks but 17mph if I am going to work up on the mountain.
