Overview & Reviews
The Freestyle is an all-new crossover wagon from Ford. Built on a Volvo platform, it incorporates the Swedish brand's safety and all-wheel-drive technology, while offering six- to seven-passenger seating capacity.
- Truly roomy seating for six passengers, plenty of cargo space, balanced ride and handling characteristics, lengthy list of safety features.
- So-so acceleration, some low-grade interior materials, no stability control or navigation system.

Ford Freestyle - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Hank York - November 15 - 7:40 amI live in the foothills outside Denver Colorado at an elavation of 8600 feet, commuting to Denver. This car is great no matter the driving conditions. I have had to drive thru snow that came up on the hood to get to my house. It gets good gas mileage, drives great and is very comfortable.

The Unknown Ford - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By peterz_98 - October 28 - 9:10 amWe enjoy driving this vehicle. It is nicely laid out inside and attractive on the exterior [I really like how it looks}. It has more than enough power on the highway and is a pleasure to drive about town. The ride is smooth and steering tight. We care for an elderly parent and getting her in and out of the vehicle was a major concern. Entry into the vehicle is aided by a well positioned handhold and generous legroom. It is also a good height for her, not to high or to low. The seating is comfortable and the rear third row is accesable with minimal effort. We have had no issues mechaniclly with our Freestyle. The Freestyle is almost unspoken of by Ford. We feel like we got winner

Freestyle is a perfect fit! - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Nomoreminivan - September 11 - 10:00 amI love my new Ford Freestyle, even after I was hesitant to buy an American Car. I wanted the extra seats of a mini van, but not the bulk. I also wanted the all wheel drive, but the Siennas were way out of my price range. The ride is so smooth and it manuevers like a car. It really looks and feels like a much pricier luxury car, and I could not be happier!

Smart Whatever You Wanna Call It - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Freestyle Gal - September 3 - 3:10 amJust bought it today to replace my Expedition. Long commute, gas prices killing me, but really needed the cargo space and occasional 3-row seating for holidays with the family. A little noisy inside at freeway speeds. Firm ride, handles great, easy to park. Lots of cool extras in the SEL for a car that costs $28K. Expected the transmission to feel different, but it is much smoother and no slipping like my 2003 Expedition. Feels zippy enough for me--my cargo is large but not heavy. Loved my humongous UTE, but was feeling guilty about it (and tired of $60 fill-ups). Sitting lower down takes some getting used to. Happy camper so far.

The solution for us! - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By very happy w/ it! - August 25 - 8:08 amI drove a Volvo wagon for years, thinking it gave us room for our 2.5 kids and a dog on long trips. We were so uncomfortable and the car had no engine power whatsoever, which could be scary at times. We bought a used Freestyle because we wanted a "loaded" car with leather seats, DVD...the sound system is amazing. Best of all, this is the most comfortable car Ive ever been in. We can pick up the childrens friends without feeling like were driving an unnecessarily huge vehicle. When idling, sometimes I have thought the engine died because it is so quiet. As for the interior, remember, I drove a Volvo, and the interior was as susceptible to breaking/falling apart as anything.

I really like this car! - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By SRM - August 15 - 11:23 pmThis is the perfect family car with practical and fun features! I recommend it to anyone not wanting another minivan or an SUV. It is the best of both with alternative, younger look and feel.

Better than you think - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Cysfans - June 21 - 8:42 pmWe have put 40,000 miles on in 2 years. The ride is superb, handling is excellent for a near 4,000 pound vehicle. 2nd row seats actually hold adults comfortably. Very good cargo capacity. The 3.0 liter engine is adequate or better for the job. Rated at 27 hiway/20 city MPG, on a 3900-mile trip from the midwest to New England and back, we averaged 28.2 MPG, including 2- lane mountain roads in Vermont and New Hampshire. It was loaded with 2 weeks of stuff. My wife drives this vehicle daily and at every chance she says she loves it!! The sunroof helps with ventilation.

Freestyle fan - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Brooklyn123456 - June 13 - 11:26 pmI have the vehicle less than a month, however in that short time I have driven it extensively and really love it. I really like the styling, its a step up from the traditional mini-van. All the neighbors love it and people on the street ask about it. Good performance and handling.

Very happy owner - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By freealfas - June 8 - 8:42 am24 months in we are very happy with our purchase and find it to be the best value in the market to date. Safe, economical, performs great in any and all situations. Glad we bought FWD instead of AWD to minimize the potential for issues in the future with the extra mechanicals and it helps mileage.
