Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • My review - 2005 Ford F-150

I waited especially for this model year to buy the F-150. I paid just under $21k for mine. Of all the trucks I have driven, this one ranks up there in ride quality. The only downside is the power isnt where I want it to be. That will change with some upgrades soon.

9000 miles and front brakes chatter, dealer says thats just the way it is. He seems to think I abuse it as Im 60 years old. Never pulled a trailer with it and drive like a normal person. Doors sound like they are full of nuts and bolts driving over a rough road, again thats just the way it is. Salesman says i should have driven it over a rough road before I bought it, however he was good enough to offer to take it on trade for a 05 model. Something funny going on with the gas gauge as it took 30 minutes for it to register full after the last fill up. Gets 16 mpg around town and 17 on road.

  • Decent Ride, Killer Gas - 2005 Ford F-150

Bought recently, have put 1500 miles on it. Came with the 5.4L engine upgrade. I test drove the F150, Silverado and Ram. The Chevy and Ram are MUCH faster but the F150 is the most refined. The interior is much improved over the 03. Ive been trying to squeeze the most out of my mileage with a soft foot (never revving past 3000rpm, A/C usually turned off), but I still manage only 13.5 local/hwy combined. With gas prices climbing, I might have to get an economy beater car for hwy driving. If you want acceleration, go with the Chevy or Dodge. But the F150 beats em out in almost all other categories

  • Never buy a new model the first year! - 2005 Ford F-150

The body is a piece of junk. Door trim tore off because of missalignment. Both rear doors have ripples in the steel. Looks like an accordian. Box has paint bubbles. Key sticks in ignition most of the time. Locking rearend had to have clutch pack replaced. (chatter when turning) Transmission never shifts the same. First shift is either jerky or real jerky. Dealer said there was no problem. Heated seat quit working. Some things have been fixed under warrenty, but wavey doors and paint bubbles are still to be repaired. I know it will not ever be as good as it should be, after body work.

  • Good Truck.... - 2005 Ford F-150

Truck runs pretty good. I got mine used but it runs very well. The only thing is that its too sluggish when it come to accelerating from being stopped when compared to, say the Toyota. After its starts moving it moves. Design-wise its pretty good, thats why I bought it instead of getting the Toyota Tundra which has a plain interior design. The right is really smooth and quiet. I wish that they would of put in an engine with more horsepower to make up for the additional weight.

  • Love the truck - 2005 Ford F-150

I have only had this truck for three months now, and so far, I can say that I am in love with it. The ride is great and the comfort is top notch. The only quirks I have about it are the noise I hear in the steering wheel (like a clicking noise when going around corners). Other than that, great truck.

This is a do all type truck. It has the looks of a luxury SUV on the inside and the rugged go anywhere 4WD look on the outside. It serves as a pseudo "mom-mobile" but dad still looks cool towing a boat. And if you need to haul a load of anything it does the job as long as it is not too big.

Have 16,000 miles currently with brake problems. At approximately 8,000 miles in for service and required rotors to be turned on front. Now having same problems with bouncing when braking. Will have evaluated soon at Ford dealer. This truck is too new to have rotor/brake problems. Also had rear bumper repair due to rear end collision. Bumper flange on frame was cracked and dealer suggested replacing frame at $5900.00 for relatively minor damage. Reason being the metal the frame is made of cannot be welded on. May be a great frame, not sure about metal composition. Seems that the cost to insure will be passed on to the driver as more of these frames have to be replaced.

  • great truck - 2005 Ford F-150

This is my first truck to own out of college and I love it. My family has owned F-150s for all my life and this is the best yet. Best looking truck inside and out. My dad bought a new Nissan Titan; great truck also, but the interior quality of my Ford is way better. Other than engine performance, Ford rules the truck world. (5.4L is a very reliable engine)
