I purchased this vehicle after several years in a Ranger. The main reason for the move to a larger truck is so I could load an ATV in the bed and do away with a trailer. Excellent move, but at the time of purchase the longer beds were not available thus I have to remove the cross-over box if I want the ATV totally inside the bed, or I have to secure with the tailgate down. Just returned from a week long trip in the wilds of the Nevada desert and found the F-150 perfect for my needs and excellent ride. It does NOT get the mileage in the city as advertised; a little better on the highway, especially if you utilize cruise control, but off-road, for some reason, it got excellent mileage!

I owned a 2004 SuperCab that was a piece of junk. Many problems! I traded for a 2005 Supercrew Lariat. After 800 miles someone turned in front of me when I was going 45 mph. Air bag went off, and $13,500 worth of damage to truck. All in front of doors. I hurt my hand on the steering wheel when it spun out of control, but I was not injured severely. If I would have been in a Chevy, I would not have been so lucky. They might not be the fastest or stop the quickest, but I believe they are the safest! And they ride and look better than all the rest!

So far this is the best truck I have ever owned. The sound system is awsome, the handling is great, it has a lot of power and great comfort.

  • Great truck with some problems - 2005 Ford F-150

This truck is very nice, especially the interior, but it has vibration problems that have been a major headache. The transmission, along with many other parts, had to be replaced at about 16,000 miles. This doesnt give me a whole lot of confidence in this truck. I also have an automatic a/c control module that has been replaced 3 times because of the air shutting off at various times.

An excellent vehicle except for 3 things: tall rear end makes visibility bad out the back, lack of dead pedal leaves no firm spot for left foot, and freewheeling transmission prevents use of cruise control in mildly hilly terrain. Traded it for a Murano after 8000 miles.

F-150 has a lot of upgrades from the previous body style. Better interior, more safety and anti-theft devices.

  • XLT Crewcab w/5.4L - 2005 Ford F-150

Bought this truck new with the 5.4L engine with the 3:55 positrac rear end. The Dodge is faster, and the Chevy looked bad in the front end, and the Nissan only offers a grey and beige interior, yuk. The truck has not been to the shop for anything other than oil and filters. I now have 15,000 on the truck and am getting 15 to 16.4 mpg driving mostly highway to and from work. It will pull my boat just fine, but the boat is about 2700 lbs, so anything will pull it. The seats are very firm, maybe too firm. I have a hole in my front left part of my drivers seat on the seat cushion. The cause seems to be a sharp piece of seat frame right below it. This is the only thing I can say that isnt good.

  • Great Truck - 2005 Ford F-150

This is my first truck in 20 years. I moved from an SUV. The ride is excellent and feels more like a car than truck. But I have had a ton of cargo in the back and it doesnt even act like its there. Real impressed with quality and finish of truck. I see why Ford is #1.

  • not so happy - 2005 Ford F-150

When I first got this truck it pulled hard to the left during braking. it took 3 months for them to fix the problem. It has 3 vibrations, 1 in the motor they say it is normal per Ford. They replaced the driveline, they rebuilt the rear end replaced the rotors, the calipers, brakes, and changed something in the fuel economy system. It now gets 16 mpg, through all this I still have two vibrations and a wobble at 35 mph. I now have a different mechanic looking at it. He says it looks like a driveline problem and motor vibration, and something to do with the transmission, due to the 45 to 55 mph vibration.

Rear differential has whined since new. Rear differential had to be replaced. Battery junk making vehicle unreliable. Ford said there was a bad plate. Charged the battery and refused to replace under warranty. Stranded 6 times. Finally, dealership replaced battery. Windshield has stress crack running all the way across. I have owned many new Chevys, Dodges and Fords over the years. I am not impressed with the quality. I dont see where the customer service is anymore.
