Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

Great ride, and solid rattle free construction. Has met all expectations.

  • NICE and FUN, but not perfect! - 2005 Ford F-150

Plenty of room for yourself the wife and 2 kids. Looks and drives nice. One breakdown within 6 months. Manifold gasket leaked oil onto sensor and brakes went out. Other than that this truck drives well.

My Texas edition Ford F-150 is a really good overall truck. Power from the 4.6L engine is lacking and the transmission is always shifting whenever there is the slightest grade in the road. Ive had my truck in the shop four times in the last year. First three times was because the air conditioner wasnt blowing cold air. After the third visit, the dealer ship figured out it needed more freon as it wasnt serviced properly at the factory. The fourth visit was because when I applied my brakes, the front end would shimmy. The dealer got it right the first time and machined the rotors. The truck only has 25,000 miles on it, the brakes should not have needed machining that early in their lives.

  • Great truck.The seats stink! - 2005 Ford F-150

Great truck, quiet, nice looking and good gas mileage -19 mpg under 70 mph. The problem lies with the seats; we have the Lariat with heated seats, They are bad; after an hour you are not happy siting in them.

Ive owned 3 Audis in the past and this truck trumps them in ride comfort and quietness. Ive put 3,000 miles on it so far (Michigan winter) and am amazed on how stable it rode in snowy/icy conditions. No squeaks or rattles of any kind either. Ford spent a lot of money on developing this truck and it shows.

Vibration problems immediately after picking vehicle up from showroom. May be a drive shaft/tire problem. No solution yet.

I like my Ford F-150 XLT; the comfort and the driving (handling). This does not feel like a truck when you are in it. I am glad I stuck with ford

  • 2005 STX - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

Going from my 2002 F150 XL to the 2005 STX felt like a big step up. It feels good to drive: feels heavy, solid and quiet. Handles great in the snow. On the down side, the pickup is not very good with the 4.6 V8; at least not as good as my 02 was with a 5 speed and 4.2 V6.

  • drive train vibratin 3 valve knockn junk - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

Ive been a loyal Ford brand buyer since 65; 23 units to date. My new 150 SuperCab 5.4 is a drivetrain vibrating 3 valve knocking nightmare. The dealer has had the vehicle on three separate occasions with excuses that started with the tires and now says a counter balance is needed to reduce (?) the vibration. I do not care if they changed driveshaft vendors and are having problems. I want a drivetrain that turns true. Period! The new 3 valve setup runs rougher than corn cob. The dealer blames it own Mother Ford and says the techies have not come up with a patch for the computer program that runs the darn thing without disturbing the tranny. I am in shock, mourning and complete disbelief.

  • Great Ride - Poor Brakes - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

Very enjoyable to drive but I have had to replace the brake rotors twice in 15 months. Brake dust is also a nuisance. Fit and finish are nice, very comfortable to drive. Gas mileage is poor - but you have to expect that when you purchase this vehicle.
