The F-150 is fully redesigned for 2004. It's bigger, more powerful and offers a greater variety of features and body styles than ever before.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • top of the line - 2004 Ford F-150

This is simple, its the best looking, longest lasting and toughest truck on the road for this class. This truck is great to drive and proud to be seen in. A truck you can go to work in and then take out for a night on the town. This is a 9 rating staight accross. I think the only down side is that the transmission doesnt quite fit the engine, a smoother shift would make this the ultimate drive. Other than that it handles curves, hills and hiways with excellent reactions to comands. I waited years to buy the best truck and i got it.......DWD.. Ca.

  • 81800 miles and no problem, almost - 2004 Ford F-150

I bought the truck new in sep of 2004. I have put all 81000 miles on the truck. I had to replace both electric window mechanisms for 155.00 a piece did the labor myself. Brakes squeak when they get hot. Not a big deal. Truck runs just like new. I use mobil 1 oil and I dont use the truck much for hauling loads. Always starts, hot or cold, good fuel mileage 17/22. No leaks. I am still driving on the original michelin tires and they still look good.

  • Watch Out for Spark Plugs - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

The Good: Awesome looks and terrific interior room for 5 people that can also pull a boat. Great comfort. The Bad: Transmission has had trouble with leaking seals and shakes intermittently on the road. Spark plugs!! Really bad design. Even Ford mechanics cant get them out routinely without breaking them off in the cylinder head. You get the charge for the additional labor to fish them out. Changing plugs on this model can cost anywhere from $500 to $1500! If you buy this truck used, make sure this has already been done or take it into account when pricing.

  • Third Brake Light - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

I need to replace the gasket in the third brake assembly and Cannot buy just the gasket.Ford sells only the entire light assembly ($65.00)for maybe a $5.00 gasket. If you change the bulbs you need to change the gasket. In my case it leaked inside and now the back sliding window doesnt work. Their way of thinking I would need to just buy a whole new truck. This is my last ford. Never again and I have owned fords for fifty years.

  • 04 F150 4x4 - 2004 Ford F-150

I have the 04 XLT supercab w/4wd and the 5.4L. Highly recommend the truck. Ride is excellent, makes our Jeep Grand Cherokee seem like a Wrangler. Power is pretty good,(not quite like the Dodge Hemi I tested). Plently of torque for towing though. It gets about 16 mpg on my regular mixed driving routine. I actually got slightly over 18 mpg on a long highway trip! Have had a couple of minor cosmetic/fit & finish complaints, about what I expected from a new model.

  • Great truck - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

This is my first brand new vehicle and so far its been a great buy. The new design is well accepted and appropriate as not to appear dated. While the truck has awesome power, performance is lagging due to the near 6000lb weight. Ford can do better to reduce the weight of the trucks in future models. The ergonomics are reasonably thought out but I always feel Im reaching a bit too far for the radio/temperature controls, but I also sit as far back as the seat goes. The interior design is nearing luxury looks, with the wood finish and chrome, although you can spend much more for looks on new Lincoln Mark LT, or whatever its called.

  • Lovin It! - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

This truck is fantastic. Really an improvement over the previous models. I like the smooth ride, and the new design. However, I think theyve cut some corners. The leather seems inferior to the leather in our 99 Expedition. There is no light in the glove box, the center storage bin, or under the hood! Never had a truck without a light under the hood! I also think some of the interior ergonomics could be improved (placement of cup holders behind shifter is awekward, half of the dash is taken up by ash tray and lighter and I dont smoke!) But all that said, this truck is exceptional in build quality and comfort. I take it out every excuse I get!

  • Take care of it and itll take care of u - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

The truck has tons of torque and a more than a respectable amount of horsepower. I bought the truck in july of 2002 and had a few problems with it but that was due to some tuff driving. If you take care of the truck itll take care of you. the truck gets complements from everyone old and young, and when I say old I mean senior citizen. Bottom line, I love the truck and it gave me a lot of respect for ford, except for the service and warranty department.

  • Not what I expected from Ford - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

Bought my truck new in 03 when the new body style was announced. Loved it then. Now have apx. 75000 miles on it. AC not working correctly, does not cool well. Have had trouble with drivers window, back passengers window and the sliding rear window. Had to have the sunroof replaced due to the frame "cracking". Its a nice truck, but expensive to keep running. It has been reduced to my weekend car.

  • not bad so far - 2004 Ford F-150
