This Year's Model Updates:

The F-150 is fully redesigned for 2004. It's bigger, more powerful and offers a greater variety of features and body styles than ever before.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • Solid truck - 2004 Ford F-150

Solid truck, you feel how solid it is. Feels more like a 3/4 ton. Engine doesnt feel like 300 hp, but when towing it does demonstrate adequate torque at low rpms. Great for when towing our travel trailer.

  • best truck i ever had - 2004 Ford F-150

i like the truck and the only problem i ever had with it was the back doors, the molding between the front and back door on the back door was bent out by the front door. But besides that it has been a great truck and i love driving it everyday.

  • A Pretty Good Truck - 2004 Ford F-150

This one has the 5.4 engine. Im getting between 14 and 16 mpg:( Other than that, its great. It handles better than any pick up I have ever driven. Very quiet inside. Great stereo system.

  • Nice Truck - 2004 Ford F-150

Great truck a pleasure to drive. A down sides to the design is lack of storage space for things guys like to have in a vehicle like jumper cables, tie downs, first aid kit, flash light, etc... Stoping charteristics are solid. The beef up calipers and brakes give a definite feeling of reliability for the unexpected.

  • 04 SUPERCREW - 2004 Ford F-150

This truck is for the laid back truck lovers as well as the weekend warriors. I think this truck is classy enough to go out to a nice restaurant or go four wheeling. The bottom line its a nice truck! I was not one to buy a Ford but once driving it I was sold. If you want a truck this is your best choice.

  • Poor Rear end - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

The original equipment tire that Ford uses for these trucks are passenger rated not LT rated. Although the ride is great for the first 20 to 25k miles, I noticed poor ride quality happening gradually as the tires lost tread. Try to find these sizes (255 70 17) is impossible. The rear end as a whole should be Fords focus on it all. The pinion gears and seals seem to be a low quality. Transmission is rough in down shifting from highway speeds.

  • My Lariat - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

A previous Chevy owner of over 30 years, I tried a Ford. This one had it all. Moon roof, power sliding rear window, even the windows on the extended doors are power. Stereo system is fantastic. The light color leather interior against the wood grain is striking. Everyone love this truck in and out and the two tone paint. It is reliable, powerful when hauling horse trailers, the ride is incredibly smooth. The construction is all they say it is. All the systems seem to work just fine.

  • Good solid truck - 2004 Ford F-150

So far, the F-150 has been a reliable, good looking, comfortable vehicle. The fuel mileage averages around 15 MPG which I think is pretty good considering its size. I have no complaints.

  • My big disappointment - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

Well so far, the transmission has acted up, been in the shop 3 times (curretnly there) the tail light was replaced from condensation, the window squeaks when going down, it needed an allignment at purchase, the plastic around the steering column is warper(and on other trucks too). This has been a nightmare the worst Ford I have EVER owned. The 4.6 is way underpowered even for my reg cab so i pity people with s/cs and super crews. GOOD LUCK!

The truck has the standard 4.6 that has good power and torque but could be better. It is an XL model but came with a lot of standard features. It is minimal but its what I like. But with a family of five I have to make sure everyone is comfortable when we all have to go in it and it does that well. I have only had one issue and that was with the trailer wiring and I will have to pay for that one myself because I didnt discover the defect until after the warranty expired! A longer warranty period would be nice. Overall it has been over 52,000 uneventful miles. I am planning my next Ford truck purchase and it will be an F250 or 350.
