This Year's Model Updates:

The F-150 is fully redesigned for 2004. It's bigger, more powerful and offers a greater variety of features and body styles than ever before.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • Good looking poor quality - 2004 Ford F-150

I love the way the SuperCrew looks and drives, however the workmanship is below par. I have had to replace the front drivers seat twice before the warranty expired because it was falling about at the seams. The back seat had to be replaced because water was leaking around the cargo light on the top. I was told this was a common problem. The seats stain if any liquid is spilled on them including water. Also had to have tranny repair at 25,000 miles. I am a business man that only uses vehicle for light duty.

  • Until gas is $5.00/gallon.... - 2004 Ford F-150

Ive tried to convince myself to look at other vehicles (for fuel economy only), but I cant get away from Ford F Series! This is my third one Ive leased a 2000 XLT, 2002 XLT, and now a 2004 XLT. My lease on the 04 is up in six months, and Ill be stepping up to a SuperCrew (but sticking to an XLT). I love the interior room (Im 65" and have plenty of headroom to spare), along with the big captains chairs. My 02 had a bench seat in the front, but I missed having that huge center console. I dont mind the simple plastic features of the dash if I wanted luxury, I wouldnt be in a truck. The radio is fine plus, the cabin is SO quiet, you dont need a loud sound system.

The only bad problem I have had is a light lagging at 20 mph in the transmission when changing gears. Ford says it is normal and I have talked to other F-150 owners and they have had the same problem.

  • Wind Noise - 2004 Ford F-150

The wind noise is excessive. Ive had the sliding back window replaced twice and still problem exists. I cannot even listen to radio or carry on a normal conversation. I drive the truck 100 miles to work and back every day so it is very dissapointing. I bought the truck on Jan 1 and it has been in the shop three times. It also has a significant electrical burning smell the dealer tells me is typical. I think I got a lemon!

I bought this for me and my wife took it and I only see it on weekends. It tows a 7000 lb travel trailer with no issues even over mountain passes. Great truck.

  • TERRIBLE MILEAGE - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

I HAVE OWNED FORD TRUCKS SINCE BEGINNING TO DRIVE, ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE FIRST FULL-SIZE TRUCK I HAVE OWNED IT IS BY FAR THE BEST ONE YET. INTERIOR RIDE AND LAYOUT IS AWESOME ALTHOUGH A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR MORE THAN 6 HOURS AT A TIME, BUT WHAT VEHICLE ISNT. MY ONLY GRIPE IS THE MILEAGE IT GETS--I CAN ONLY GET ABOT 297 MILES TO A TANK OF GAS, OR ROUGHLY 13 MILES A GALLON. THAT GETS EXSPENSIVE AT 1.85/GALLON GAS PRICES. ALL IN ALL IT IS A GREAT TRUCK WITH A " SUPER-DRINKER " ENGINE.

Lower door seals had to be replaced they were collapsed and allowed dirt and water to get inside the door well. Acceleration is delayed for about a second after one "punches" the gas pedal. Rotors had to be "turned." Steering wheel would shudder upon putting on the brakes at speeds of 55 mph. Interior design is outstanding - very comfortable on a long trip. Suspension is outstanding.

  • great truck - 2004 Ford F-150

Very well-built truck. Solid, quiet ride, great fit and finish. Quiet and smooth running engine.

If you are thinking about this truck get it. It is a very fun truck to have and it is a blast to drive off road.

Good drive, the vehicle performs like a truck should. A little more shudder over small bumps than I would like to see in a $35000+ vehicle. Pulls great, 5.4L has plenty of power when all 8 cylinders are pumping.
