Overview & Reviews
Arriving in 2003 for the XLT supercab styleside configuration is the Heritage Edition, which includes 17-inch wheels, a chrome cab step and various stylistic flairs such as a black bedliner, a lower valance, paint striping and a paint scheme with a raised cut-line. Also new is an STX edition for the XL- and XLT-trimmed regular and supercabs that includes an MP3 player combined with a monochromatic color scheme and clear lights, among others. Upgrades for the fancy King Ranch flavor consist of fake wood for the interior, lighted step bars and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. For the Lariat, expect a standard rear window defroster and a Pioneer CD and cassette system (the latter is also newly available on the XL and XLT). Harley-Davidson models have the option of getting a two-tone black-and-silver paint. Finally, a new LATCH system helps you tie down the kiddie seats properly.
- Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
- Poor IIHS crash test result, everybody and his brother has one.

Ford did it again - 2003 Ford F-150
By lucky - April 3 - 6:13 pmFord has came up with another excellent vehicle. The 5.4 l is the better buy for the power. I really enjoy the roominess of the entire truck. I used to own a Chrysler and it sat way too low to the ground and got dinged up very bad. The good thing about this truck is that I am a lot higher up. I own another F-150, but it is a 1991 yet Ive already gotten 170,000 miles on it, and it still runs like a champ. So I hope this truck will do the same.

15 years! - 2003 Ford F-150
By jcamp - March 27 - 10:00 amMy last pickup was a 1988 F-150 regular cab. Stick, no air, upgraded XL package, that was 15 years ago when I got it off the lot! WE are finishing putting our kids through college so it was time for me. I ordered exactly what I wanted, 2 tone XLT, auto, air and even a splurge of the Moon roof. It is my dream truck, right down to the colors I picked. I had the dealer add the egg grate grill (same as the heritage edition with chrome trim) and chrome nurf bars to make it perfect! We traveled on a 1400 mile trip to get our daughter at college and it was very comfortable.

power to tow - 2003 Ford F-150
By boscoe - February 9 - 2:06 pmWe purchased the F150 5.4l v-8 for its powerful towing capability. We tow a travel trailer that weighs in @ 7200lbs. dry/wt. We have the 2wd SuperCrew with auto transmission. We live in northern California and the F-150 Triton 5.4l v8 has no problem at all pulling over Donner Summit or over the Siskiyou Mountains into Oregon. The ride is very comfortable, for I am 64" and I not small in stature, and the handling is smooth. Very road worthy when pulling the trailer. I am very satisfied with the overall performance and comfort of the F150 SuperCrew. The mileage when pulling trailer in cruise control @ 55- 60mph range in overdrive is around 11- 12mpg. Not pulling trailer about 17mpg, not bad for a truck.

Glad I bought one - 2003 Ford F-150
By Badpony - February 7 - 10:00 amI purchased the truck in April and I love it. I have had one minor problem with the cab step light on one side but the dealer fixed it right away. The truck rides great and the quality has been excellent, my only complaint is that the truck feels a little under powered but the pros are far greater. I get positive comments about the look of the truck all the time. Good job BLUE OVAL!!!

Poor Mans Lightning - 2003 Ford F-150
By Bodenis - November 30 - 8:52 pmI bought the truck mainly because of the body style and price. I wanted a inexpensive truck that still looked good. I have owned two Rangers and a 2001 SuperCrew and this truck is as nice as those were. This is the same body style as the SVT Lightning and I have lowered it and had the windows tinted and added 18 inch chrome wheels. It is a very sharp looking truck and and after being lowered handles great and is still functional as a daily driver and part time hauler. Cassette player was replaced with a CD unit so the only upgrade needed now is a dual exhaust and cold air intake. Rides great, looks good, didnt cost an arm and a leg what more could you ask for!

By jlwebb - November 24 - 2:00 amA Beauty of a truck. Gets stares from people that drive a $60,000 car. Roomy Up front, but not for grown ups in the back. Kids will be fine though.
