This Year's Model Updates:

Arriving in 2003 for the XLT supercab styleside configuration is the Heritage Edition, which includes 17-inch wheels, a chrome cab step and various stylistic flairs such as a black bedliner, a lower valance, paint striping and a paint scheme with a raised cut-line. Also new is an STX edition for the XL- and XLT-trimmed regular and supercabs that includes an MP3 player combined with a monochromatic color scheme and clear lights, among others. Upgrades for the fancy King Ranch flavor consist of fake wood for the interior, lighted step bars and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. For the Lariat, expect a standard rear window defroster and a Pioneer CD and cassette system (the latter is also newly available on the XL and XLT). Harley-Davidson models have the option of getting a two-tone black-and-silver paint. Finally, a new LATCH system helps you tie down the kiddie seats properly.

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Poor IIHS crash test result, everybody and his brother has one.

The 2003 F-150 XL supercab is a heck of a nice truck. The 4.2 V6 while not being overpowered does everything I want it to do. Plenty of pep when you need it. I purchased it in June of 2003 and got a terrific buy. With the factory rebaits and the dealer being highly movated to deal, I ended up paying $4500.00 under factory invoice. Sweet deal for a XL model.

This 5 speed manual V-6 worked like a horse when I recently moved from Weatherford to Ft. Worth. Pulling a trailer loaded down and the cargo bed loaded down to the max, this truck was just the ticket for a full days work. I love my new F-150.

Bought this truck new for my son for school and work. He has over 140,000 miles on it now and not a single trip to the Service Dept except to change the fluids. Has exceeded all expectations. When they say Built Ford Tough, its true!

This has gotta be the tightest truck I have ever driven. Its 380 H.P., 5.4L V-8 may seem like too much for this regular cab truck but its a blast to drive around in. I have a buddy that owns a full mile drag trackand with a few mods, Ive hit over 160 MPH.

Although the title is different then what I actually own, I own a 1997 and just to put my two cents in, this truck is now 5 years old. There are no words to describe this truck. Everything about it I love! Its equipped with a 5.4L so I have no problem towing trailers and such. The only problem I have is that the Off-Road Package seats are stiff, but then again its an Off- Road Style. You get what you pay for and what I paid for was well worth the time and money!

A fun and exctng vehcl, prfrmnc on par with a BB muscle car. The interior is very unsophstcted, boring and neither fnctnal nor sprty. The tires work very well but last about 10K mi due to the wght and ease of unintntnal tires spin. It is geard so low that at 80 mph it runs at 2500 rpm, it seriously needs a 6 spd man tranny. It tows my boat very well. It runs the advertised 140mph and feels like its on rails. The hndlng is superb, thumbs up to SVT for a very neutral well-blncd hndlng pckg. The SC is awsome, a chip will improve shifts and adds some power. It is a narrowly focused package that lacks versitility, but the prfmnc is excllnt.

  • What a Wonderful Truck - 2003 Ford F-150

I love this truck! It is by far the best truck I have ever owned. I have driven and hauled trailers across the country from Miss. to Montana and back to Mich. and this truck has no problem at all. I have the 4.6 engine and I have 70,000 miles on it and it runs just as good as the day I bought it. I change the oil every 3-4k and I still get 20mpg on the highway. I couldnt ask for a better truck. I will drive this truck until the doors fall off or a million miles, whichever comes first...My son wants the truck but only after Im dead and gone. I only drive Ford trucks. No other truck compares in my book. I have had four other Ford trucks in my days but this is the best. Period.

  • So far, so good. - 2003 Ford F-150

Wife loves it and in fact it was her choice of vehicle over a 4 door car. I like the good road manners and the good performance as well as handling. Keeping in mind that its a truck, but it does handle well. Remains to be seen how its going to work out for towing a 3600# trailer, but hauling the - car - trailer empty (1200#) it seems like its not even there. It has the 5.4 engine. One improvement I would like to see, assuming there is room would be a well in the rear floorboards that would be an on-board permanent toolbox. All in all though, were very pleased with the truck. Especially wifey. Shes finding it difficult to share....

  • Great Truck - 2003 Ford F-150

My 6 cylinder F-150 has been a real workhorse. My last couple of Ford Rangers lasted 150,000 miles before I traded them in and the F-150 seems to be on the same track. I get 22 mpg in mixed city and hiway driving with the manual 5 speed if I keep my foot off the gas. The 6 cylinder has all the power I need to haul lots of weight on those occasions when I need to haul 1,500 pounds. I had to replace a broken overload spring and upgraded to a heavier set to handle the weight. The engine didnt have a problem with a full load. The acid test was that the engine hauled all that weight over the Pennsylvania Turnpike in cruise control with very few problems.
