This Year's Model Updates:

Arriving in 2003 for the XLT supercab styleside configuration is the Heritage Edition, which includes 17-inch wheels, a chrome cab step and various stylistic flairs such as a black bedliner, a lower valance, paint striping and a paint scheme with a raised cut-line. Also new is an STX edition for the XL- and XLT-trimmed regular and supercabs that includes an MP3 player combined with a monochromatic color scheme and clear lights, among others. Upgrades for the fancy King Ranch flavor consist of fake wood for the interior, lighted step bars and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. For the Lariat, expect a standard rear window defroster and a Pioneer CD and cassette system (the latter is also newly available on the XL and XLT). Harley-Davidson models have the option of getting a two-tone black-and-silver paint. Finally, a new LATCH system helps you tie down the kiddie seats properly.

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Poor IIHS crash test result, everybody and his brother has one.

  • Will keep it forever - 2003 Ford F-150

FX4 model. Great truck. Had it since new. Now have 142,000 miles on it and still running strong. Only routine maintenance done. We tow horses regularly with it and no problems. Truck is paid for and I will keep it til I run it into the ground. Only thing I would have preferred are captains seats, not the 60/40 bench that I have.

My family and I love ours so much we named the truck "Rocket". Not because its really fast but because of "The Little Einsteins" rocket ship. Always there, ready for action and it wont let you down. This is my 3rd Ford truck and only sold my 2nd because we had another child on the way and a Super Crew was needed. It is roomy, sits up nice and is comfortable on long trips. One was 2,000 miles and another with 1,400 averaging 22 mpg on both trips with a 3.55 rear gear. Overall, Im sure I will buy another F-150 when that time comes.

  • bad transmission and rear - 2003 Ford F-150

The transmission slips and the rear bangs on hills. The dealer cannot duplicate the noise and no one is around to come for a ride with me. This is a big disappointment for the best selling truck. I should have bought a Toyota.

  • 03 Lightning = Great Buy - 2003 Ford F-150

Year 3 of owning my Lightning. It is daily driven for most of the year. She gets into the occasional spirited acceleration now and then. Picked it up with 25k on the clock, now have 73k. I take good care of it, pretty much looks and runs the same as the day I got it. Only issue Ive ever had was the starter going around 50k. Beyond that plenty of tires (my fault haha), and recently rotors and pads. Most reliable vehicle Ive ever owned!

  • Excellent choice! - 2003 Ford F-150

I enjoy being able to haul pretty much anything in comfort. With the tall tires and ample suspension every road ill is taken in stride. The truck looks good inside and out

Great build quality. Amazingly agile considering size and ruggedness. Handling is exceptional for a large 4X4. Refined interior with great ergonomics. Rear seats fold flat with minimal effort for expanded flat floor space.

  • Im a Believer - 2003 Ford F-150

Good day, I did volumes of research prior to purchasing my F-150. I opted for overall performance and Im not dissapointed!! This vehicle handles great, cuts the wind well on the Interstate(although long distance trips are not going to be a common occurance) and feels rock solid over uneven terrain. I love it. This truck gives the sensation of being above the landscape without feeling like a Kneworth.
