This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Dodge Charger is a new full-size sedan but shares many of its mechanical components with the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum.

Pros:
  • Striking looks for a sedan, Hemi V8, firm handling, refined ride, roomy and comfortable interior, reasonably priced.
Cons:
  • Looks plain from behind, some low-grade interior plastics, hefty curb weight.

  • good but not great - 2006 Dodge Charger

I started having trouble with the engine light coming on, then trouble with the trunk switch not working, but first was my front sway bar and my right tie rod, then my sun roof wouldnt work, got my sun roof to work, then my radio, shut the car off, for an hour, then everything worked except the trunk switch., now my outside temperature gauge doesnt work, and my compass, they dont know how too fix, this problem, I keep contacting the service department, but they dont call me back, Im done with Chrysler, even though I, love my charger, and that great power, I have Borla exhaust on my car, and it sounds great, except for the lifter, noise, come on Chrysler you can do much better than that, make quality, not quantity

V6 3.5 High Out put engine, I am totally convinced and satisfied with the performance of this beast. I had JAG V8 before this car. I think Charger V6 is faster than JAG V8, dont know how and why! I had some exterior sticker work and sports filter fixed on my black charger. It turns head wherever it goes. calm ride, though I am not very pleased about the interior plastic pieces and shock absorbers, even small humps can be felt inside the cabin. some noise from the back seats and rear door, dont know it is from inside the door or rear fender. Checked twice, the dealers doesnt have a clue it seems. It is 100% mens car and it is written all over the car!

  • Alot of bang for your buck! - 2006 Dodge Charger

I love my 2006 Charger. For the money- (I paid $29,995)-I got a black RT that is an absolute head turner. The only gripes I have are the placement of the cruise control lever(GOOFY), and the rear spoiler should have been standard- I had to buy mine off of EBAY. The review in Car & Driver does not do this car justice. There is no car out there that can give you Hemi power and "4" doors besides the 300C. I own a 2003 Ram 2500 with this same engine. I knew it could move my pickup in a hurry. I just had to see what it could do in the Charger. Wow!

  • Nice car overall - 2006 Dodge Charger

Ive enjoyed this car since the day I purchased it. After 11 months of ownership, I still catch myself looking over my shoulder at it, as I walk away. Fun car to drive. The 3.5 V6 is more than enough power for most driving. Expected a bit better gas milage.. the V8 guys get close to what I get. Now Dodge has snared me with a well designed/good quality car, I may have to look at the new Challenger. Good job Dodge.

  • 06 Charger SE w/ 3.5HO 5A added sunroof - 2006 Dodge Charger

I just purchased this vehicle and find that it is very comfortable and roomy for taller people like myself. You can glide down the road not even noting your speed. Fairly quiet running vehicle and smooth over the bumps. Not the R/T so I havent done the curves hard with it. I do recommend you get the 5sp auto for this vehicle (I believe they are standard on the 06 models and only on the SXT-R/T models later.) The 5speed (or 5A as they note it) will give you the low rpm cruising speed on the highways which will help with gas. I get 30mpg with this car.

  • Very disappointing - 2006 Dodge Charger

My wife and I are very disappointed with our "dream" car. Its in the shop every month , even now over Christmas (10 days) and have hardly driven it for we have lost confidence in it. It was not worth the $30,000 price to sit in our yard leaking oil along with a dead battery. I think a Buick Lucerne would have been a better choice.

This is the most amazing vehicle I have ever driven/owned. It does as little or as much as you would ever want to do. It does however have some blind spots. In addition to this, I have noticed a whine, sounding like a turbocharger, possibly coming from the transmission, as I pull in to my garage. Hopefully nothing serious. If it isnt, I will be very extremely pleased with the vehicle.

  • Never thought Id own a Dodge - 2006 Dodge Charger

I never thought Id own a Dodge, but I have been pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoy this car. My husband wanted the power, and I have to say its not a bad thing to have on the highways. We looked a whole lot of vehicles and just happened to see this one and whammy, we got it. Some improvements could be made, but overall a really, really good looking, huge, fun to drive and ride in car.

  • Fun Family car - 2006 Dodge Charger

We bought because we are having a baby and needed more room. We wanted fun and practical. We got the R/T with R&T performance package. It turns heads, gives plenty of power and feels safe compared to other four door sedans in the same price range. Wish you could spin the tires better but its probably good it cant because I would go through them too quick.
