The 2006 Dodge Charger is a new full-size sedan but shares many of its mechanical components with the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum.

Pros:
  • Striking looks for a sedan, Hemi V8, firm handling, refined ride, roomy and comfortable interior, reasonably priced.
Cons:
  • Looks plain from behind, some low-grade interior plastics, hefty curb weight.

Charger with 3.5L is a good balance between performance and practicality. Since I do a lot of city driving the HEMI scared me if gas prices go much higher. Have been an import owner for years so this car is a bit different. Love the exterior styling. Definitely could use more "gingerbread" features on the interior. The dash is nice but the interior is loaded with cheapish looking materials, even the "leather" seats appear to be more vinyl. Drives beautifully, nice and quiet and good pick-up. I got the power sunroof as to not feel closed in by its low windshield as I am a taller person.

I have owned sports cars all my life and this one is the most fun yet. Its not as refined as a Corvette but it is more fun to drive especially since I can take my whole family along for the ride. This thing actually draws more attention than either the new or the classic Corvettes that I have owned. It obviously doesnt corner as well as a Vette but it sure accelerates like one and I think that Chrysler is being a little conservative with the 13.5 sec et on 1/4 mile times. The engine is obviously capable of more if you can just get the tires to stick to the ground.

Its hard to believe that only a few short years ago Chrysler did not even offer a V8 in a car, much less a rear drive one. Theyve more than made up for it. With a wife and two kids, this is a perfect choice for a family mans muscle car. Not only is it the cheapest of the SRT8s, it is also the coolest looking, with its hood scoop and rear spoiler. The Magnum and 300C SRT8s look too much like the regular Hemis to me.

Ive never owned a Dodge in my life. I think I was missing the boat. Its a tight, quiet, comfortable 4 door Tank. With the 5.7L Hemi the gas mileage is low but the 4/6/8 cylinder shut down system works pretty well. On the highway the mileage quickly is 24mpg with an added plus of using regular gas. Overall, a great car with a happy owner.

The Charger RT is a fun car, has room for the family, and has good power, but is not a muscle car. 340 hp or even 350 hp with the Pereformance package is not enough to really push around 4000 lbs. For individuals who want real muscle, only the 425 hp SRT8 will do.

I purchased an 06 Daytona and have had excessive rattling/vibration from the trunk lid due to the stock stereo. The car is not fixable by the dealer. I was told all of the Daytonas on the lot have the exact same problem. The power sunroof has an intermittent problem. The car will not smoke the tires as shown in the picture. The hood is a decal, not paint as some of you may have seen wrongly described. My pride of ownership is fading as more problems arise. The car sits because it has lost its appeal to me & the body and paint was damaged by the dealer. 2700 miles are all it has on it.

Wow what a car! I cant drive more than a mile or two without someone slowing down or turning a head to look at this pure muscle car. The cockpit is perfect, and the power is so cool! Gas mileage is more on the bottom range of 15 city and 20 hwy, but who buys a muscle car for the gas economy?

I rented the V6 and immediately noticed the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and well designed exterior. The SRT8 adds power that will push you back in your seat, extremely sporty and comfortable seats, and many options that you wouldnt expect from a sports car. I wanted a sports car but needed a family car. This gave me the look, feel, sound, and performance of a sports car with the room and convinience of a family car.

Easily the best car Ive ever owned, and IMO the best car for the money. Nothing else combines the power, acceleration, and handling of the Charger with the convenience of 4 doors and 5-passenger seating.

17mpg in town is hard to obtain when something is this much fun to drive. I average something closer to 15 - 16mpg. With 4 doors and a huge trunk, my wife and two small children have plenty of leg room.
