This Year's Model Updates:

A midlevel Touring model is added to the Pacifica lineup, and the base model loses some of its standard equipment to accommodate a new lower price. Rear parking assist is now optional.

Pros:
  • Exceptional comfort for four, drives more like a sedan than a minivan, top-notch safety scores, upscale interior design.
Cons:
  • Average room for six, not as family-friendly as most minivans, spotty reliability on early models.

I traded in a Nissan Pathfinder for the Pacifica and feel the Pacifica is a much better value. The comfort of the ride and the handling are much better. I also feel the standard options and price are much more competitive then the Pathfinder. The Pacifica is also much cheaper to insure because of its excellent safety record. The Pacifica does seem, however, to lack acceleration despite the 250 HP engine.

I started my trip from texas and brokedown in ind., With a grinding in the right front wheel. The dealer said that i should not be driving the car, with 3000 miles on it. They gave me a rental but was without the car for three days because they had to order the whole front wheel. We also had water dripping on my wifes foot from the air. Cond. They replaced the filter and filter door. It is still leaking with 9,000 miles and the dealer said that i should change the temp. In the car to correct the problem? We also had an emissions pump go bad with 8,000 miles and had to spend four hours at the dealers waiting for them to get the part from some other dealer.

I bought our 2005 Pacifica at auction without much research but I was down to the Ford Freestyle and this. I like the handling and comfort though it has a little lag in power sometimes. The main reason I went with it is because this is one of the only cars or minivans that accommodates 3 children in car seats. with 2 in the second row and the third in the third row. The third row kid required a little assistance with clipping her seat for about 6 months, but I fold down the second third row seat and put her into the vehicle through the hatch. Overall I get about 18-19mpg in rural driving in the foothills of NC.

  • Great Vehicle to Drive - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

I have had the 2005 Pacifica for 1 month now and I am delighted to get into it each time. It looks great and has so many amenities. The gas mileage leaves something to be desired and it could use a bit more power but I still love it. The blind spots that others speak of have not been an issue with me. Grab one if you so desire.

I had a Ford Explorer XLT and I wanted something smaller but still big and this did it for me. I like the gas and the controls on the steering wheel. I love the space and the truck lots of leg room and very comfortable. Could have done better about the backup view. But I can work it.

  • Oil Issues - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

I loved the car when we first bought it, but have had the oil consumption problems that others have talked about. At 3000 miles, the oil is completely gone. The dealer replaced the top half of the engine, but the problem is still there. Chrysler said it is normal to have oil consumption like that. They said there has been issues, but have no idea where the oil is going. I had a 96 Jeep Cherokee that had 380,000 miles and never burned an ounce of oil. Seems to me Chrysler should deal with this problem. At 3,000 miles the engine clicks. I loved Chrysler vehicles, but will never buy another one.

Purchased this vehicle as high mileage fleet, and have very few complaints. The interior is comfy, the storage capacity positively huge. Ive had one burnt out turn signal and a wiper replacement in the year Ive owned it so far and its handled, all the weather Indiana could throw at it.

Overall I think that you cant beat what the Pacifica offers to a family being small or big. Saftey and comfortability is big in my book. The Pacifica offers this and then some with its SUV sporty look. And with a pinch of class, it offers self comfidence and worth.

  • Great crossover! - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

I found a used 05, AWD with all the extras & only 14,500 mi. I drove it 2,000 miles home with no problems. A great, comfortable ride. A bit underpowered for the weight but that makes it more stable, especially in bad weather. The room inside is great for our family and all our stuff. Leg room in the 2nd row is wonderful. All the extras like DVD, sunroof, etc. make it that much more fun to drive. I even managed just under 24 mpg on one stretch. Not as bad as I expected. Overall a great family vehicle that drives like a car with all the benefits of an SUV and mini-van. If you want an AWD vehicle that isnt a box, has some style and is comfortable and fun to drive, then this is for you.

  • Very pleased with our Pacifica - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

We purchased a FWD base Pacifica about a month ago, to be the wagon for my wife and myself. We had considered several $25-30K competitors (Volvo and Volkswagen wagons, Hyundai and JEep SUVs), but the PAcifica won out because: 1. Its got enough room to put just about anything in its range to shame. 2. It was much more of a car than the SUVs we test drove. Its handling, particularly considering its size and weight, is very impressive. 3. Its flat out a lot more luxurious than a Volvo or Volkwagen that costs more. We take a lot of highway trips, and the Volvo V50 in particular seemed a bad highway car. The Pacificas seats are great, and its visibility is excellent for a taller wagon.
