This Year's Model Updates:

A midlevel Touring model is added to the Pacifica lineup, and the base model loses some of its standard equipment to accommodate a new lower price. Rear parking assist is now optional.

Pros:
  • Exceptional comfort for four, drives more like a sedan than a minivan, top-notch safety scores, upscale interior design.
Cons:
  • Average room for six, not as family-friendly as most minivans, spotty reliability on early models.

  • Love the car but... - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

As a senior citizen driving a 2005 Pacifica Touring AWD I thought I had found my ‘dream car.’ The car handles well, offers outstanding comfort and provides all of the options I could want. The fuel consumption is not outstanding but about what I would expect given the size of the car. The in dash GPS is nicely done with the exception of the maps provided. These are poorer than any of the three after market GPS units that we have in our other cars. Still I use the past tense in describing it as my ‘dream car’ because I began to have problems with oil consumption. I have since learned that Chrysler claims that using one quart of oil every 1000 thousand miles is ‘normal’ for their 3.5L engine.

I bought mine used with 19k miles. Loved it for the 2 months I had it, then was hit from in right rear corner of car by guy doing 90 mph. Totally caved in right side of car but inside was intact with no caving. This car probably saved our lives and while my next car was a Ford, I still miss the Pacifica and you cant overrate its safety, especially when you need it.

I have had this car for three weeks and 3,000 miles now. Not a problem, drives like a dream, not too bad on gas for such a heavy car. 19 city and 25 highway. Drives like my volvo and rides better than my caddy. I love this car. Good quality fit and finish

  • Safe, solid, comfortable touring wagon - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Car had two minor recalls for headlight harness and fuel control module. Waited for parts. Has never stranded us or not started. EGR valve replaced at 49,900 miles. Still have 50% brakes after 50,500 mi. Brakes are one of its finest features. They stop straight and true like a Mercedes. Vehicle is solid as a vault, but heavy which keeps fuel economy and performance from being rated higher. Goes fast on highway with no worries, tracks beautifully. Two rows of heated leather seat are best in the business. It really can seat six, but four are very, very comfortable. AWD kicks in on snow and is barely noticeable. Goes nice and straight. Utility of a minivan with lt more style. Volvo-like safety.

  • A good all purpose vehicle - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica
    By -

Mine is an early model produced in Nov. 2003 currently with 17,400 miles. A good all purpose vehicle that has been very reliable with only two minor warranty items (brake light and right side mirror automatic adjustment) repaired. Very comfortable on long trips with reasonable highway gas milage of 22-24 while averaging 75+ mph. Handles well around town with somewhat disapointing accelleration and gas mileage of 16 -17mpg. Well appointed but some parts rather cheaply made.

  • Picked Pacifica over Freestyle - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Overhead DVD option is grossly overpriced at $1500. Same for in dash GPS. Avoid these options. Excellent vehicle for hauling the kids and dog to all of their activities. We looked at the Ford Freestyle also and chose Pacifica.

My control arms right and left side had to be replaced before 10,000 miles. Bushing were noisy when braking, or turning. Console gearshift has a chessey, stainable cover.Stains (soda, coffee), of any kind can not be removed.Im replacing mine with the other flat configuration, which are on later models.$50.00 cost.I dont care for the transmissions shifting, which could be just me. Its the same as my 140,000. mile Nissan Maxima.

Buyer beware with this one. We bought this car used for a seemingly awesome deal. Fully loaded, cd, dvd, nav, one year old half off of a new sticker. ABS is a real issue. Now you need to replace an entire wheel if a sensor goes out. That is $500 for a $50 part. General maintenance also adds up to almost another $100/mo. New tires, and I shopped this, almost $1000! At least I didnt have to pay for the recall issue, which the dealer didnt tell me about. Also, the air conditioning is not great. Nice ride, but not worth the cost.

first let me say this vehicle can get the job done. bought this crossover 2 yrs ago and love way it rides, very comfortable. that being said i have also had to put it in shop 3 times. abs light came on . then some sensor went out, then control arms had to b replaced also had a recall on it for fuel pump. i think its just the downside of buying a vehicle same yr model came out, so bugs werent worked out yet. going more luxury on my next one but pacifica is way to go . bottom line ..get one but get extended warranty on it.
