This Year's Model Updates:

The supercharged Impala SS joins the lineup for 2004. Besides offering 240 horsepower, the SS features a tightened suspension to allow it to take corners with a bit more gusto. Base and LS models have redesigned bench and bucket seats, and a sport appearance package is now available on the base sedan.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • Vague steering, soggy suspension on base and LS models, low-buck interior.

  • Poor quality car... - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

My mom bought this car new in 2004 for a really good price. Its a sturdy, good running, reliable car. However, the quality over the years has been terrible. The gas gauge went, the speedometer went, and the temperature gauge went. These I never got fixed because it would cost 450 dollars each to fix. Also, a security sensor went bad, and the car wouldnt start. That I had to pay for. It cost 450 dollars to fix. Also the dim switch went bad on the headlights. Had to get that fixed. Another 450 dollars!! This all happened by 80,000 miles. The gauges went bad at about 40,000 miles. This car was the worst in quality I have ever owned! Other than those things, the car is fine. It runs good.

The Chevrolet Impala, Hmm hmm hmm. Where do I start. The exterior design is boring to say the least. The interior design even more boring. The heater/AC vents have all broken on my car (Thanks GM for really putting some effort into designing this car) I bought this car used in 2007. Right after I bought it the AC broke and the water pump went out. About $500 in repairs. What else is wrong with this car that shouldnt be: The cigarette lighter went out, the rear defroster went out, the back right window stopped rolling up, I had to replace the front wheel bearing assembly. Ohh and now it makes a loud annoying squeaking sound coming straight from the serpentine belt.

My 2004 Impala has been an overall pleasure to own and drive. After 100 K miles and normal service, it still rides like a dream and has great acceleration. I average about 34 MPG on the freeway and 26 on local driving - tank after tank.

I purchased my 04 Impala brand new and the first year of owning the vehicle I thought it was the best car I ever owned. Year 2 I had to replace the speedometer and the radio, year 3 tie rod, rear hub assembly. Year 4 I had to replace the water pump, rebuild the transmission, and now I am having issues with the coolant system! All in all a major disappointed with GM products, especially a vehicle with a $26,000 sticker price! This is my second Impala, as I had one in 2003 that was wrecked, and I thought this car would last 10 years with no troubles! Boy was I surprised!!!! Chevrolet you need to get it together or Ill have to consider buying a Toyota or Nissan!

This car is pretty nice. I have the SS super charged. Its a lot better on gas mileage than I expected. It didnt even take a half a tank of gas to get from where I live to my familys house, like it normally does on the Toyota Camry I had before I traded it for this car. It seems I got a good deal trading in that old Toyota Camry for this Chevy!

  • WORST CAR EVER - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

I bought a 2004 chevy impala with 95,000 for $3,600 within 4 months of owning the car I had to put $1,700 into it to fix it. Worst decision of my life!!!

There is nothing more beautiful than an Impala 04! The interior space is perfect and very comfortable. I drove this car for almost three years and never had problems with the engine. I used it for traveling and it was the most comfortable road trip experience driving and as passenger. Even after hitting the 100,000 mile marker, the engine ran smoothly and silently. The Impala is the best car I have ever owned!

I sold cars for 25 years, and today all of them are so much better than the were years ago, prices are great with all the rebates! Now is the time to buy what ever you want, but be sure and check for rebates, some Dealers will hide part of it if they can or add on for some other stuff you do not need or want do not get sucked in on finaacing or paint seal or anything that a Dlr.adds on, if they add value added or some other dubble talk walk out go to a Drl thart wants your business not just your money!

Used for business. Most of miles are on the road. Sixteen months - 45,000. Car is good dependable tranportantion. Gas mileage is right at 30 mpg. Only problems during first year were bad brakes after only 12,000 miles. Required two trips to dealer to get rid of ribrations. Note: purchased optional engine and suspension package.
