Overview & Reviews
Now into its third year of production, the Impala soldiers on as Chevrolet's bread-and-butter family sedan. Minor upgrades this year include standard dual-zone air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo and LATCH child seat tether anchors. A leather-accented 60/40 split bench seat will be available later this year on LS models, and two new exterior colors have been added.
- Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
- So-so styling, wallowy suspension,low-buck interior.

My new Ol Reliable - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Vetmom - January 27 - 1:53 pmI bought this car as a demo model. I am the original owner and have had all the recommended maintenance done on it. This car still gets me 27MPG around town and almost 30 MPG on the interstate. I am 510" and I can set the driver seat where I want it, sit in the back seat and still have plenty of room.

Ive had no problems what so ever. One of the things I love most is the integrated OnStar system - its so powerful. You can check your email with the rearview mirror! Many more things are spectacular about this car. In short: youll love it.

I really like this car - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By mrge - July 27 - 10:00 amI love this car--we looked for 6 months- seriously considered the new Nissan Altima but decided the sticker price was $8ooo more for the look I wanted that this LS was able to supply. Honda Accord was my next pick--the 4 door look was blah and the 2-door, although more jazzy looking, would not serve my family needs. Also, the interior was smaller than what I was comfortable with. The LS met all my needs and desires for a reasonable price in comparison to the competition. I previously drove a Continental and I am just as happy with this vehicle--drives almost as cuhioney as the Continental but with a sportier feel.

A JOY to drive! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By slonaker - May 3 - 10:00 amWhat an outstandingly well-built car! I have to take issue with the editors comments about "wallowy suspension," and "low-buck interior". Our Impala LS is tight, roomy, comfortable and just flat FUN to drive! Someone here mentioned its not meant for those 5 7" and over. Well, Im 6 3" and this is one of the few vehicles I can actually stretch my legs in. All this AND a 5-star rating for safety?? Why would anyone consider anything else??

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By jbrooks544 - December 19 - 10:00 amI dont know what car the Edmunds reviewer was driving, but it wasnt an Impala. This car Handles great, plenty of room, all the options you could imagine, all for under 23k. this thing has almost no body roll, no boatiness, firm steering, but very quiet and smooth. If you do enough research and do a test drive you will be sold. What is not to love? This thing is as safe as a volvo, almost as large as a crown vic inside, gas mileage of a compact, styling of a BMW/saab/volvo, 10k less than a midsized SUV, and has a better ride than a 500 series Mercedes SEL.

Import Killer - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By SMV - September 25 - 10:00 amMy job requires me to be on the raod frequently, and this car makes that a lot more pleasant. The driving position is comfortable, and most controls (except the cruise on/off) are well laid out. The 3.8 gives plenty of "freeway merge" power, without sacrificing fuel economy. I average about 23-4 in combined city/hwy. There is plenty of room in this car, you could park a Civic in the trunk. Handling is exceptional, I feel very safe. I have had no mechanical problems, and the had ZERO defects on delivery.

Great Ride - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Spoiler45 - September 25 - 10:00 amNo import can compare to the Impala LS. Surprisingly great fuel economy. Great + Unique design. Excellent power. This is a perfect sedan for a family looking for plenty of room, a good quality car, a fun ride, and something a little different than all those homogeneous imports you see all over the place. The price aint half bad either.

Excellent car - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By G Warner - September 17 - 4:33 pmThis has been a fun car to own. I have had very few problems with it over the years. The body styling is great, as is the interior design. I think I will cry when I have to get rid of it.
