This Year's Model Updates:

Now into its third year of production, the Impala soldiers on as Chevrolet's bread-and-butter family sedan. Minor upgrades this year include standard dual-zone air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo and LATCH child seat tether anchors. A leather-accented 60/40 split bench seat will be available later this year on LS models, and two new exterior colors have been added.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • So-so styling, wallowy suspension,low-buck interior.

  • The LS is a quality buy you wont regret - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

The car was purchased after my 99 Grand Am was totaled. The car is sturdier, smoother ride and definately more luxury. Gas mileage is better than the Pontiac, insurance is cheaper and so are the plates. My black LS is sleek and stylish without feeling like a grandma car!!

  • Good, but needs some improvements - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Bought last August with 33k miles. Now 50k. Brake rotors from factory are soft and warp easy (had already been replaced under warranty before we got the car), replaced them with ones from Car Quest (and put on ceramic pads). Stops great now, and the parts shouldnt wear out for a long time. Will do the back in the next few months. Thermometer was bad, and they found an intake manifold gasket leak ($600) while fixing that, which I guess is somewhat common in GM vehicles and is caused by the Dex-Cool coolant they use. I got that flushed and had different coolant put in. Should be good now. Have done a few other maintenance things that would have to be done with any car.

This is an excellent car, the best Ive ever driven. Fuel economy is great for the size of the vehicle. Its comfortable, roomy, and good looking. I havent had a single problem with the car.

  • 02 LS...Love it Love it Love it - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Bought this car used in October of 2004. At time of purchase the odometer was at 26,827. I have since then put about 5000 miles on the car and have not had one problem yet. This car is truly fun to drive, and the performance is terrific for a car so large. Saving now for a new 2005 Impala SS.

  • 2002 Chevrolet Impala LS driving fun - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

The 2002 Chevrolet Impala LS is a great car to drive, it feels like a much more expensive car, it rides good, comfortable seating, it handles really well with a good feel of the road and has just about all the features you would find in a car costing way more. Although the interior is laid out well, easy to read gauges and easy to reach controls, the enterior could be alittle more plush, the rear seating area and front and rear door panels are rather bland.

  • Excellent family car - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I believe that this car is the best model out there. We have an infant and this car has everything we could want out of a family car. Security, room, and style. We would give this car an overall rating of 10 out of 10.

  • Happy with my Impala - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I bought my Impala about six months ago with 22000 on it. I have loved the car ever since with decent power and gas mileage for its size. I also like the trunk space. Only real complaint is I had to mount my XM radio obove the mirror as there arent really any flat spots on the dash.

  • Everyting I Needed - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I needed a larger four-door car. I wanted performance and creature comfort. I got both with this car. A loaded LS has about as much as anyone could want. The moonroof is great and the heated seats and steering wheel mounted audio controls are very luxurious. It handles reasonably well but not like a small car. Quite quiet inside with windows up. The controls are well placed and the trunk is huge. The 3.8L engine delivers enough power to really go but gets great mileage (I average about 23 MPG around town, 29 highway).
