Overview & Reviews
Now into its third year of production, the Impala soldiers on as Chevrolet's bread-and-butter family sedan. Minor upgrades this year include standard dual-zone air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo and LATCH child seat tether anchors. A leather-accented 60/40 split bench seat will be available later this year on LS models, and two new exterior colors have been added.
- Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
- So-so styling, wallowy suspension,low-buck interior.

World Class Sedan - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By DC - October 5 - 2:00 amA well known consumer service rates this vehicle as a recommended one. Looking at the hard data, hard to argue as it has scores that surpass the best the Japanese have to offer. You will find sedans that equal this one, but whether one surpasses it is a matter of subjective opinion. Subjectively, we love this loaded Impala LS.

DBatmobile - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By dyoung1 - September 29 - 10:00 amThis car is comfortable, though a bit noisy, with most controls easy to use and reach. Leather seats provide good support with adjustable lumbar and they are toasty in the winter with the seat heaters. The car has a very smooth powertrain with excellent low end grunt and pleanty of passing power with the 3.8L engine. It gets excellent gas mileage at about 30-31 on trips. The handling dynamics are so-so, it requires attention to track, especially on the twisty roads. It holds all our stuff for those long vacations, but is still easy to park. The only problem in 10k miles was a leak in the gas tank filler neck that required replacement of the tank - under warranty.

Test Drove them all , Impala won! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By sammy(alias mario) - August 13 - 2:00 amWhen I when to buy my next car I researched the internet extensively and test drove just about all the cometitors (Accord, Camry,Passat, Intrigue, Altima, Avalon, Sable, Intrepid). The Impala won my wife and my votes for comfort , power, handling , features and room to spare. Plus it has 87% U.S./Canadian parts content. Not to mention 5 star frontal and 4 star side impact ratings.

Family Sedan in Style - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Munther Salim - July 23 - 2:00 amNice car to drive with a feel of luxury The interior is well done this time at a reasonable cost. Fast and powerfull, yet, very good fuel economy and fuel tank size that allows me to travel from Detroit to Chicago and drive for a whole day on one fuel tank

Why is edmunds so biased? - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By tony blate - July 20 - 2:00 amOne of the best cars I have owned, a great buy for the money. Ride and handling compares with cars many thousands more. I looked at everything from BMWs to Hondas to Nissans...best buy for the money. Get the bigger engine and leather seats..LS version Obvious Edmunds is pushing people away form this car but for what reason?

Take a Closer Look at Impala! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Happy In Mass - June 28 - 10:00 amMy first thought of the Impala in 2000 was Dull. I test drove one a year ago, and changed my mind. My second look at the styling. Differant! Then came the fuel economy. Wow 30mpg. highway, and 20mpg around town! Then I took a ride. Powerful 200hp V-6. Tight handling, and quiet cabin! And all the creatures of a much more expensive car. I had a chance to ride in the back seat this week, a 30 minute ride.I was very impressed. I have had Town Cars, Crown Vics, and Grand Marquiss. Just as nice a ride, and just as much room, and the rear theater seating was nice. I am 61" plenty of leg room. Over 18 Cubic feet of trunk space, (I cant reach the back seat)
