This Year's Model Updates:

A regular-wheelbase 760i model has been added to complement the long-wheelbase 760Li -- it features all the power and amenities of the top-line model in a more manageable size. The 745i and 745Li models are freshened with new alloy wheels, and are available with all-season run-flat tires as a no-charge option. All 7 Series models can add adaptive headlights as an option, and Sirius Satellite Radio as a dealer-installed accessory. BMW has made revisions to the iDrive control system to simplify various functions, and the automatic climate control system now has a humidity sensor. Finally, the outside mirrors get a power-fold function this year.

Pros:
  • Superb driving dynamics, highly advanced technology, dizzying array of features, sumptuous furnishings.
Cons:
  • Toys can be distracting from the task at hand, confusing secondary controls, odd styling details.

  • A great automobile - 2004 BMW 7-Series

This is my third BMW. After an 850CSI and 740IL I didnt think BMW could improve things so much. I evaluated both the 745LI and the Benz S500. I found for my tastes the 745LI to be far more appealing. It took some time for the styling to grow on me as I wasnt real impressed with the first few I saw. Im now a convert with the aggressive lines. The iDrive is a bit more complicated than it could be but not that difficult to master the features you will actually use.

  • Liked all the loaner cars! - 2004 BMW 7-Series

Loved the car at the dealer but spent most of the 10 months of ownership driving loaners since it was in the shop most of the time. In over 7 times for 14 different problems in 10 months. Warranty covered it all but have since filed a lemon law claim and am trading it in as soon as we settle. I was a big Japanese car fan for 15 years due to reliability and husband has been a BMW owner for 20 years but now we are running back to the Japanese cars. Dont buy this car unless you want to try all the BMW loaners out there and hope your dealership has really good snacks and coffee cause you will practically live there, that is, if they CAN schedule you in for service.

  • WOW - 2004 BMW 7-Series

Im not usually the type to go online and post reviews but this BMW has compelled me to do so. This is my 1st BMW and I am blown away! Its the most intelligent car that Ive every experienced. This car has brought the "fun" back to driving. Driving to me used to be a chore. Now I look forward to getting behind the wheel. I bought a preowned 2004 745i and it has all bells and whistles (19" rims - sports package, satellite radio, heated/ventilated seats, soft close doors, adaptive cruise control, etc.). I am now a BMW lover. I initially planned on purchasing a Mercedes Benz S500 but Im so glad I went with this. No problems thus far.

  • Performance and Luxury - 2004 BMW 7-Series

Car is fun to drive, powerful and comfortable. The performance is outstanding with great power, braking, and safety features. The luxury features are fun and convenient, especially if you have to commute to work every day. Its nice to be able to make calls, flip through satellite radio, or relax in quiet.

  • Ride is Tops - 2004 BMW 7-Series

I bought this certified used car with 22K miles. Never disappoints. I put 25K miles per year and this car makes it worth it. I get home without being beaten up.

  • Nice Ride, but.... - 2004 BMW 7-Series

I love driving this car - my 2nd Bimmer. That I cant get CD track titles to display has been driving me nuts for three years. I see the new 7 series has fixed this, and some other iDrive related short comings. Too bad they cant make those changes on the one I already own.

  • A Rock with 4 doors - 2004 BMW 7-Series

I think this is a close as it gets! This is my 4th 7 since 1985, they keep getting better. My last 745i 02 was crap and couldnt wait to get rid of it. This V-12 flies and get great mileage for such a huge G-force power plant. This 7 never breaks & the dealer gives me a free 7 loaner when I go for regular maintenance. The iDrive is the best part and I feel like Im on the couch when driving. I cant wait for the new 2009 models and style with power plant improvements. I have the 100K extended warranty and only pay tires. I get looks all the time with black on black with black tinted windows. Thanks BMW.

  • Awesome 745 - 2004 BMW 7-Series

ok, we all know that the 745i has created quite a stir. Well, this is my 4th BMW, 1st 7 series and this does what no other car can. Its electronics truly help you drive IFF you invest the time ro learn the car. You must invest the time and the rewards are endless. This is the best driver ever !! The voice commands are helpful (it found fuel and hotels for me via the navigation, the hands free phone will save my life and its looks grow on you as long as you have the 19" wheels. The 2003 sport package is the way to go !!

  • Better love the loaner - 2004 BMW 7-Series
    By -

I bought the 2004 because I thought the iDrive demons had been exorcised. Not so, and other recurring issues forced me to tell BMW to take the car back... and they did. During my 30 months with the car, I drove every loaner car that the dealership had. They tried to fix things but the problems wouldnt show up when the car was in their hands. When they did, they couldnt come up with permanent fixes. There is a reason the 7 series made it to #1 on Consumer Reports list of most problematic cars. I am switching to a less complicated 5 series and the first time I have to take it in for them to reload the computer... Im done with BMW.
