Overview & Reviews
A regular-wheelbase 760i model has been added to complement the long-wheelbase 760Li -- it features all the power and amenities of the top-line model in a more manageable size. The 745i and 745Li models are freshened with new alloy wheels, and are available with all-season run-flat tires as a no-charge option. All 7 Series models can add adaptive headlights as an option, and Sirius Satellite Radio as a dealer-installed accessory. BMW has made revisions to the iDrive control system to simplify various functions, and the automatic climate control system now has a humidity sensor. Finally, the outside mirrors get a power-fold function this year.
- Superb driving dynamics, highly advanced technology, dizzying array of features, sumptuous furnishings.
- Toys can be distracting from the task at hand, confusing secondary controls, odd styling details.

Amazing Driving Experience - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By tarek307 - February 23 - 2:51 ami must say, i was worried about getting a 745li, knowing all the issues those cars sometimes have. But ive really had no issues, & value wise, even if i get issues, its ok. This car is a true drivers car, has that amazing heavy yet sporty infamous BMW feel to the max! Its a pleasure driving this baby..feels nothing like the big huge sedan it is.

Liked all the loaner cars! - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By marali - December 7 - 8:28 pmLoved the car at the dealer but spent most of the 10 months of ownership driving loaners since it was in the shop most of the time. In over 7 times for 14 different problems in 10 months. Warranty covered it all but have since filed a lemon law claim and am trading it in as soon as we settle. I was a big Japanese car fan for 15 years due to reliability and husband has been a BMW owner for 20 years but now we are running back to the Japanese cars. Dont buy this car unless you want to try all the BMW loaners out there and hope your dealership has really good snacks and coffee cause you will practically live there, that is, if they CAN schedule you in for service.

Nice Ride, but.... - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By NormDePlume - July 8 - 9:52 pmI love driving this car - my 2nd Bimmer. That I cant get CD track titles to display has been driving me nuts for three years. I see the new 7 series has fixed this, and some other iDrive related short comings. Too bad they cant make those changes on the one I already own.

2004 vs 2003 - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By BMW? NEVER AGAIN - October 19 - 2:00 amMy 2003 was plagued with so many problems BMW eventually replaced it with a 2004. So far its been 10000 miles and no problems to report. I did receive a notice from BMW telling me that my 2003 (I guess they forgot they took it back)was extending its warranty to 6 years and 100000 miles, this applies to the 2002 models as well. This does not apply the 2004 model or the 2005(makes sense??)They are also offering me $1500 toward the sale or lease of a 2005 or 2006. I guess thats BMWs way of saying their sorry for all the torture they put me through---NEVER AGAIN

Enjoying 7 Series but... - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By Carmen Miranda - October 2 - 2:00 amLong time BMW owner. First time a 7 series owner and loving it. Performance, style, power, comfort are wonderous. However, computer keeps shorting out causing it to be in the shop 2 times in last 4 months. Overall, just as long as BMW corrects problem and gives me a free loaner car...am satisfied, for now.

745i - NO Fun - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By Rod6327 - July 26 - 2:00 amExcellent handling capability BUT Not fun to drive. Try down shifting with the steering wheel button and then figuring out what gear you are in while watching the road at the same time. Every service is a multi-day ordeal and there have been too many. Uneccesary complexity, the radio is basically non-functional outside of the pre-selected stations.A real problem if you are routinely in different reception areas.

Technology Falls Short - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By Mark Dunham - July 19 - 2:00 amThe voice activation doesnt work well and the electronics seem to need constant updating as the phone and navigation system dont always work properly. The steering has a vibration in the steering wheel until the low profile tires warm up, which takes about 8-10 miles of driving before this goes away. This is not what you should expect in a $70,000+ automobile.

By RLCPAPC - June 29 - 2:00 amI purchased a 2004 silver metallic 745i with a phone that wont activate. The dealer give me a new one and it works now. Stereo is great but dont have XM. Havent tried Sirius yet. Seats are very comfortable and am finally getting used to all the controls. I like this car.

Delighted - 2004 BMW 7-Series
By grandview - May 4 - 2:00 amI purchased this car with trepedation after hearing of the horrors of the I drive software system. The test drive closed the purchase. The 2004 is complicated but paatience gets you into a system that has a treasure trove of information. I like the styling and the performance of the car is just awesome with rapid acceleration and excellent gas mileage: I get 24 mpg at high speed on the highway and 20 around town. I had one fit and finish problem that was addressed by the dealer (a mismatch fit for the air vent.) The rear seat is cavernous with legroom for a Knick.
