This Year's Model Updates:

A regular-wheelbase 760i model has been added to complement the long-wheelbase 760Li -- it features all the power and amenities of the top-line model in a more manageable size. The 745i and 745Li models are freshened with new alloy wheels, and are available with all-season run-flat tires as a no-charge option. All 7 Series models can add adaptive headlights as an option, and Sirius Satellite Radio as a dealer-installed accessory. BMW has made revisions to the iDrive control system to simplify various functions, and the automatic climate control system now has a humidity sensor. Finally, the outside mirrors get a power-fold function this year.

Pros:
  • Superb driving dynamics, highly advanced technology, dizzying array of features, sumptuous furnishings.
Cons:
  • Toys can be distracting from the task at hand, confusing secondary controls, odd styling details.

  • I like it - 2004 BMW 7-Series

This is my 4th BMW and by far the best. I also own MB E class but I like the 745i better. The computer display could be improved to a more logical layout. It has too many things all over the place and could be organized in a more meaningful way. The parking distance and navigation system did not appeal to me that much. The performance and the head turning factor is tremendous.

I was hesitant to trade my 2001 740iL for the newer model (E65) after reading about all the issues with the 2002 and 2003 model years. The leasing incentives were just to good to pass up so I made the move. In a word, Im thrilled. This car is more nimble, quicker, handles better, brakes better, and rides better than my 2001. Im still not crazy about the styling, but Im willing to live with it to get all the other improvements. My 2001 was in the shop 5 or 7 times in the first 6 months for minor issues. Ive had this car for 2 months with zero issues and Im really picky. I think they have the issues resolved for the 2004s...joe

I purchased a 2004 silver metallic 745i with a phone that wont activate. The dealer give me a new one and it works now. Stereo is great but dont have XM. Havent tried Sirius yet. Seats are very comfortable and am finally getting used to all the controls. I like this car.

When my lease on my Mercedes S430 expired I wasnt sure on whether or not to get another one. I drove the 745Li and fell in love. It handles like a dream and extremely powerful. But I cannot compare the comfort to anything I have ever sat in before. I got the comfort seating package and I almost want to sleep in this car.

  • should have bought a lexus..... - 2004 BMW 7-Series

Horrible experience. Salesperson did not know her product. Car did not live up to my expectations, check engine light eternally on, engine misses at 25-35 mph. Service only temporarily fixes problem then comes back within days. BMW should be ashamed. Should have bought a Lexus like all my associates did.

  • Best In Class - 2004 BMW 7-Series
    By -

After driving all the contenders, including the Jag XJ, Audi A8, LS430 and of course the Merc S, nothing makes as strong a statement as this one. Unbeatable drive and handling, smooth, beautiful, kicks the hell out of anything in its league. Only qualms are there are still some electronic glitches

  • Love it! - 2004 BMW 7-Series

This car is unbelievable! There is a lot happening with the car, but if you have the BMW Client Advisor teach you, you can learn how to use the I-Drive. Lots of leg room. I am 60" tall, and my husband is 65" and "big".Passenger room is great. The trunk is huge. Getting the sport package was a great choice. I am getting the best gas mileage.Overall...I really enjoy this car. My only complaint is that the paint stains (by dead bugs)and scratches too easily. If you can, take European delivery of your car (its awesome). My car coming from Germany was some added fun.

  • Delighted - 2004 BMW 7-Series

I purchased this car with trepedation after hearing of the horrors of the I drive software system. The test drive closed the purchase. The 2004 is complicated but paatience gets you into a system that has a treasure trove of information. I like the styling and the performance of the car is just awesome with rapid acceleration and excellent gas mileage: I get 24 mpg at high speed on the highway and 20 around town. I had one fit and finish problem that was addressed by the dealer (a mismatch fit for the air vent.) The rear seat is cavernous with legroom for a Knick.
