Overview & Reviews
The base engine is now a 245-hp, 4.0-liter V6 that uses either a six-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic. The optional 4.7-liter V8 now makes 282 hp and is coupled with a standard five-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel-drive regular cabs are now available with a V8 engine, while four-wheel-drive Access Cabs can no longer be equipped with a V6. Regular cabs equipped with the V8 get a color-keyed grille and chrome front bumper, as well as vinyl flooring and a cloth bench seat. Two new alloy wheel designs are available on Access Cab and Double Cab models, and all Tundras get new headlamps and rear combination lamps. Inside, new gauges and an available navigation system with JBL audio spruce things up a bit. In addition, Double Cabs can now get a 60/40-split bench front seat for true six-passenger seating. Front side-impact airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on Double Cabs.
- Smooth and refined V8, Toyota build quality and reliability, nimble off-road, most carlike of the full-size trucks.
- Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, narrow cabin, chintzy interior materials.

15000 miles and going - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Judge - December 21 - 4:06 amMy anti-Japanese car (or truck) brother in law thinks the thing rides like a caddy. A compliment in his world. It is very quiet, very smooth and surprisingly fast. My g-tech pro says it goes 0-60 in 7.85. For me the styling inside and out isnt great, but better than some and more important to me is the reliability that toyota usually has. The toyota is amazing, the only time it feels like a fullsize truck is when you are parking it, especially parallel parking.

Great Truck - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By dsrtrcr01 - December 19 - 4:26 amThis truck is great And the best is its a toyota so it will run forever. It drives like a truck should not all mushy like a little car(the TRD suspension that is) I must admit the non TRD truck is pretty mushy.

LOVE IT!!! - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By N5K191 - November 27 - 7:33 pmWe took it on a cross country trip and was great! The ac is better than on our caravan(2005) and is more solid. The interior is Lexus like and they could sell this truck as a Lexus anytime. No time in the shop, exept for a squeal above 2500rpm. Is definately a fuel hog even with weaker engine but is more refined. I would recommend this or the Titan.

best of both worlds - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Silver - November 14 - 8:46 amBest ride and handling out of all the trucks I test drove. After trying out the dodge, ford and chevy half tons the tundra came out way ahead of the others. Interior is very quiet at hwy speeds very little wind noise. The tundra is tight inside and out. If you dont need to tow more than 7k #s this truck is for you. The 282 hp v8 has plenty of power, very quick off the line.

More than I ever expected! - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Eric - September 7 - 11:36 amI upgraded to this truck (Regular Cab 4WD V8) from my V6 Tacoma because I needed more hauling power and more room in the bed. I have driven this truck 11,500 miles in 6 weeks, sometimes hauling a double axle 16 car trailer and loading heavy car parts in the back. The Tundras fuel economy while towing is much better than I expected, especially with non California gas. Build quality is excellent, with my only complaint being the cupping of the front tires-the dealer found the front end alignment to be 7 degrees off! I bought the strip model with real window cranks and rubber floor mats for ease of maintenance. I drove them all,but one thing was missing-the Toyota reliability!!!

Tundra Double Cab 4WD - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Garry Moore - July 9 - 7:26 pmGreat running truck. First time I bought a "foreign" truck as I have been a FORD man since the 70s. Ford decided they didnt want to deal on their vehicles so I purchased a Tundra. Was looking at the Titan as well but since it was the first year i decided to pass. Thus far I am glad i did. Performance is excellent. Some ergonomic locations are not perfect such as window controls and windshield wiper location. Seems I always turn on the wipers when i turn right due to the location Excellent sound system as well. THANKS TOYOTA!

Luv My Tundra - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By The Duke - July 2 - 5:53 amI bought my 05 Tundra about two weeks ago, and I am still in love. This car is the Lexus LS 430 of Trucks. The truck rides smoothly, has all the punch when I need it, and has a good size bed and room for passengers and kids. The TRD package is a great suspension to have for Los Angeles, as there are plenty of rough roads even in the city.

Toyota Tundra Double Cab - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By MAB - April 11 - 2:43 pmJust purchased a new Double Cab Tundra. The truck is amazing and best riding truck I have owned. I traded in a 99 Chevy Z71, which was a good truck, but the Tundra drives much nicer than the Chevy. I find the truck has plenty of power, despite other complaints on lack of horse power. I also test drove the Tocoma, but highly recommend the Tundra over the Tocoma. You can get a lot more options with the Tundra and only pay $1000.00 more.
