Toyota MR2 Spyder - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Some1 - December 22 - 10:00 amVery fun and fast car to drive. The interior is not too roomy, but if you care for looks get this car. Not much cargo space either. Mazda Miata is the compteter of this car. This car is better thought because of its middle engine rear whell drive layout. This is used in most racing cars.

Im a Toyota Man Now! - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By unb10 - November 10 - 7:26 pmIve owned a lot of cars, but this one takes the cake. The handling is awe inspiring, even if the horsepower isnt. Still, a 6.5 second 0-60 mph time is enough for me, and I enjoy getting 30+ mpg. For those who said the interior looks "cheap" and "plastic", get the leather interior. It is reminiscent of higher priced performance cars. I love the look and feel of the interior, very comfortable, and Im a large guy. Everywhere I go, people stop and stare. And you may not need more HP. Ive had two sports cars back down from a race (05 Mustang, 03 Firebird). Reason? They thought it was a Porsche. I was a Chevy lover before, but Im a Toyota man now.

great little car - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By arr1 - September 20 - 10:53 amLike the Beach Boys said - FUN, FUN, FUN. Get up and go, its got, lot of cargo space - not. Great second car for the work commute or the weekend crusing. A looker too, turns heads wherever you go. Must ride with top down, no wind with windows up so its pleasant. 30 mpg so you can fight off the high fuel prices. Top is very easy to put up and down.

Lemon? - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Mason1024 - June 11 - 10:00 amI love her, but shes on her third transmission and second engine. Informal research shows that 2002+ models are more reliable. Very fun, impractical car. If only she were as solid as Toyotas are supposed to be, I would gladly put a couple hundred thousand miles on her.

BRING IT BACK... simply the Best - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By hplardog - March 25 - 5:10 amQuick and easy to move around in city traffic. FUN. Easy to drive. I look forward each day driving to and from work. Did I say it is FUN to drive? I like the looks I get as I drive by. I have been asked more than once..."what is that?" Gas mileage... I own an SUV, but I drive the MR2 Spyder. Even though it is little, it gets me around. Reliable and FUN... I did say it was Fun didnt I. Cant take lots of stuff in it.. a glove box in the front and two glove boxes in the back.. behind the seats. When I have a choice, I take the Spyder. TOYOTA Why did you quit making this car!!! A true sports car, economical, easy to afford, the backing of the good name TOYOTA. Bring it back!!

A Refined Car - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By theCarman07 - November 4 - 12:20 pmI have driven Porsches, Lotuses, Ferraris, and once a Maserati, thus I know what it takes to be a good sports car. Overall, the Spyder is my first choice. Why? No, my main reason in not the price, though it helps. The reason is the overall ride and the unique driving experience the Spyder provides. The Spyder puts the Boxster to shame. The interior puts cheaper Lotuses to shame. The exterior provides an aggressive that screams Im fast. I notice I get a lot less challenges from other drivers on the road, a lot less than my Camaro Z-28. This car is breath taking and gives a pleasurable experience that equals some Ferraris. If you want a sports car buy this one.

Fun car to own and drive - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Joe - May 30 - 4:46 pmI traded in a slightly modified VW GTI for this car and couldnt be happier. Ive had this car for almost a year now and will not part with it for a practical car anytime soon. The midengine rwd layout is a blast and stock this car will out handle pretty much anything in its price range and most cars out of it. The interior has everything you need, and there arent any unnecesary addons, which is perfect. I have the cloth seats which grip very nicely in the turns and having driven my friends MR2 Spyder with leather seats, I wouldnt trade him for them as those cause you to slide. I recommend this to anyone who wants a fun car and doesnt mind the lack of practicality.

Head turner - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By arr2 - March 6 - 10:00 amGet one of these to turn heads where ever you go. Every one asks, "what is it". It is a blast to drive, corners like on rails, pulls away from a green light in a wink. Cargo space is limited but its not a long tripper. Top is easy to work. Engine revs a little high at speed, could use a 6th gear in the manual tranny, but still gets 30 mpg. These are rare, every ones got a Miata. Overall experiance in a word -- FUN--
