Overview & Reviews
For 2006, Toyota has fitted the Land Cruiser's V8 with variable valve-timing technology, and the result is a welcome increase of 40 horsepower (to 275) over last year's model. Other changes this year include a standard tire-pressure monitor system, a newly optional automatic height-control and suspension and minor exterior styling revisions, which include a new grille, headlamps and taillamps.
- Go-anywhere capability, smooth ride quality, strong and smooth V8, versatile interior with luxurious appointments.

2006 LC - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By LC - July 25 - 9:20 amEvery time I get in a drive this truck, I love being in it. This truck is smooth! Acceleration. Braking. Turning. Quiet. More than I hoped for. The 275 hp engine responds well at any speed. 7.83 zero to 60. Very comfortable. Decent gas mileage. 17 to 19 MPG. Best when driven 55 to 60. At 65 to 75 it gets 17. Im 62+" 210. I can drive this for hours and not get sore. Just drove it through 15" of snow in our pastures in the beautiful Western Mountains of Maine, easy as a drive around the farm in summer. Impressive. I choose the 06 because of the 275 horse engine. Better acceleration than the 235 hp for earlier years.

Wish my 99 Range Rover had been Cruiser - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Joe - October 23 - 8:46 amRefined, quite, smooth and powerful. Supberb fit and finish. Excellent on interstate or pot holes. Confidence inspiring brakes and excelleration. I have owned 4-wheel Ford Exploirer and all-time-4 Range Rover. They were both older and both may be technically superior today, but I cannot imagine loving any vehicle like my Cruiser

Like it But!!! - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By pirate - September 27 - 4:23 pmWe purchased this truck and sold my s430 Mercedes for the space. My husband hates the navigation. If youre driving you cannot use the nav. You have to pull over and type in the address you need. What a joke that has become. The second problem is the brakes. Since I have purchased this truck I have had on a had on and off squeaky brakes. Dealer blames it on dust. Nothing is better than pulling up and the loud brake squeak comes with your stop. We all know these trucks suck gas. I do love the comfort and the room. My kids like the dvd system. I have had no problems with the air. This truck is a 7 in my book.

Havent Driven It Much - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Frank - June 21 - 7:00 amI have always wanted a Land Cruiser but never really had the need for a big SUV. I drove into a Toyota dealership with a friend, saw the only Cruiser they had on the lot and had to have it right then and there. It was beautiful and fully loaded. Now that I had a place in the mountains, I actually needed this thing. We use it to drive in the mountains and to and from our home in Florida.

Poor navigation system - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By W. H. Hall - October 7 - 3:53 pmThe navigation system has not performed since the purchase. Two separate dealerships have tried to get it to operate, without success. In both cases the mechanics did not even understand how to operate it. The instructions are confusing and inadequate.

The Ultimate SUV - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Frank M. Jr - June 13 - 11:26 amTraded In 2004 BMW X5 for first Toyota Landcruiser and could not be happier. The Landcruiser is much bigger and roomier. Interior room is spacious and comfortable and build quality is excellent. Fuel economy is fair, but this is expected with a vehicle of this size and weight. The Landcruiser rides and handles exceptionally well for a large SUV. The ride is smooth and comfortable and even more enjoyable on long trips. The cabin is full of driver amenities and the vehicle is built with quality and Toyota reliability. The 275 HP engine is smooth and responsive. Love the Bluetooth capability. Satellite radio is an option that should come standard for the price of this SUV. The best SUV.

Happy but disappointed - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By PC - February 19 - 9:40 amOverall generally pleased with this vehicle and hope it is as reliable as everyone says, but... After driving for a few months I am disappointed in the lack of some basic features one would expect in a $60K luxury SUV. Very basic and bland vehicle and becoming extremely dated in its offering. I have nicknamed it the dinosaur.

Solid SUV - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By jeff - February 15 - 11:16 amWanted a solid, go anywhere SUV that had no weaknesses and was reliable. The Land Cruiser fits that bill. Have taken off road and has handled admirably. Smooth on road. No significant reliablility issues. Considered Land Rover products, but had concerns over reliablility. New V8 gives good acceleration for this class of vehicle.
