START STOP HAS TO GO - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By JIM YOUNG - July 13 - 12:49 pmThis highlander has start stop tech. Which absolutely sucks. The engine tries to stop running before the car comes to a stop. It hesitates on start up. The advertising misrepresents this feature. It is not safe. It does not save gas. Its a joke on the american public. The consumer should be able to turn this off permanently. I had a 2014 highlander which was a very good vehicle, however, i have told folks to stay away from the 2017 because of the start stop crap.

THE BEST HIGHLANDER TO BOOT! - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By Ben Richards - June 8 - 8:45 pmThe 2017 redesigned Highlander is the best SUV on the market. It still retains the luxury SUV feel and comfort, all while bringing in new and improved upgrades! The new upgrades to the transmission makes stressful driving a thing of the past, with its comfortable shifting, cruising when you need it and power when you really need to step on it and put the pedal to the floor! And let me tell you, this baby has 5 USB ports! Who needs 5 USB ports you ask? Any family where the kiddos need to be constantly attached to their devices, thats who! That is genius on Toyotas part, now I dont have to listen to my kids complain and moan while we are all in the car. All I have to do is plug them in and they shut up for hours! I wouldnt consider anything other than the brand new 2017 Highlander, it has comfort, luxury, and power! I dont know what that other guy was talking about, if he really drove a Highlander he would know that everything pales in comparision to this beast of a machine! Plus, its got black tires, and who doesnt love that?

Bought it for safety devices - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By Jim Yuhas - May 12 - 7:56 pmIm 74 and can use a little help driving. I like the lane departure warning and blind spot warming. I havent need the forward collision warning but Im glad it is there if I dont notice someone has slowed ahead of me. In other brands I could only get these features in upper trim levels at much higher costs. Other brands were as much as $10,000 higher to get all the new safety features.

Second Highlander even better than our first - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By JillRN - April 4 - 9:06 amWe decided to upgrade our 2011 Highlander to the 2017 XLE AWD and could not be more happy with the decision. The new model has many safety upgrades and is a perfect family vehicle. Love the push button start, backup camera, and navigation. It is quiet, stylish, and handles very well. Looking forward to many years of driving enjoyment! Toyota makes the very best mid-size SUV that has a ton of features in a reliable package. Very pleased!

Value for the dollar - 2017 Toyota Highlander

Poor MPG - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By mcosta.tech@gmail.com - February 26 - 1:54 amLove the Comfort but I am only getting 18.8 MPG with most of my driving on the Highway. My 2000 Ford F350 Crew Cab Long bed with over sized tires and 4x the power gets 20 MPG. Pretty sad that I drive my 17 year full size truck to save on fuel. I talked to the dealer and they didnt seem to care.

Great SUV just has some flaws - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By Scott K - December 26 - 8:04 amThis SUV is almost perfect in every way but there are some flaws. The ride is quiet and smooth and you feel safe and most features are great. Weve put 28k on this in two years so its been put to the test. Tons of room and seating is plentiful. But there are some problems that you should know before you spend what is basically luxury SUV prices. The front seats are OK but firm. Hard to go much longer than a few hours before you need to stop. The entertainment system absolutely doesnt work correctly. You have to disconnect and reconnect all of the time. Our 2008 Camry worked better. And our fuel economy (although I would assume this is not the norm), comes in at 18.7mpg - not the 21 town, 26 hwy promised.

Very Disappointing At This Point! - 2017 Toyota Highlander
By Greg - October 25 - 5:34 amOur new Toyota Highlander with the XLE package has been in the shop even before we received our license plates! We did have 5 1/2 weeks of "new car happiness". Then, while out of town, the tailgate would no longer close (automatically or manually). Then the automatic open/close completely ceased working as well. It is designed so you can manually move the tailgate up and down, but with the latch in locked position and refusing to open, we could no longer secure the door closed. I removed the access panel for the latch and tried to open it, unsuccessfully After calling and speaking with service departments at two dealerships and to a Toyota phone rep, we were still unable to resolve closing the tailgate. In fairness, the service departments did several steps of troubleshooting with me over the phone. But to no avail, - during our 140 mile trip back home, I secured the tailgate with a rope connected to the locked latch. I visited the dealership after returning home. They said the latch has malfunctioned. They also could not open it. The electronics for the auto opening & closing tailgate and the struts (lifters) may also need replacing. They ordered a new latch and said they would replace one thing at a time and troubleshoot until resolved. No time estimate was given since they couldnt tell how many components would need replacing. I asked about a loaner vehicle, while the work was to be done. The dealership said that they dont have loaners, but they do have rentals. They said they were unwilling to "loan" me a rental, because theyd have to bill Toyota for the rental fee. Hows that for taking care of your customers!!
