Overview & Reviews
Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.
- Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

Not Good if in an Accident - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Gloria - December 10 - 12:10 pmIt was in a little fender bender. No air bags deployed; the car that hit me and my car were only going ten miles an hour but the repairs for my Murano were over $8000. My car was hit on the drivers side on the edge of the bumper. From the outside it looked like only the bumper was damaged, yet the battery encasement holder was pushed into the transmission and a whole new transmission was needed. Am wondering if this was just a fluke, or if these cars are just fragile.

TERRIBLE RELIABILITY!! DO NOT PURCHASE MURANOS!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By bobby125 - December 9 - 5:40 amHEARD ALL OVER OF THE SAME PROBLEMS ONCE I STARTED HAVING ISSUES W/MY MURANO. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MURANOS!!! Bought used, had engine timing/engine chain problems HAD TO REPLACE WHOLE ENGINE MOTOR!! can cost thousands, mechanics also report problems w/ under hood accessibility on front end due to everything being compacted so poor front end design which takes more time&labor costs for mechanics to fix, also had work done on ball joints, tie rods and rear sway/axle bars TOO MANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS for a foreign vehicle w/ only 120k miles.

Eye Catching Design - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Eli - December 9 - 2:00 amMy wife and I have had our eye on the Murano since we first got a glimpse of it last summer. We stopped by the dealership to check it out and fell in love with styling and performance of this "SUV". It has ample storage for her to tool around town with our 2 girls, and plenty of power to appeal to the sports car enthusiest like myself. I have a 2001 Maxima, but I find myself wanting to trade cars with her. Shell never let that happen. The list of standard features is generous and plenty of whorthwhile options to pick from. Another winner Nissan!

CVT - 2003 Nissan Murano
By ginac - December 8 - 6:50 pmThe transmission went out on our murano at 100,000 miles. Just as the warranty was up. we had to pay $6,000 to replace it and Nissan would not help us in any way. What I am disgusted by is the nonsupport that we received from Nissan. Ive written several letters only to be ignored or told to send my inquiries elsewhere. I will never! purchase another nissan and have already gotten several of our friends to back out of purchasing a nissan. Prior to this, the cat. convertor went out. Luckily this was still under warranty. Since then, weve had a bearing go out in a tire and one of the arms (shocks?) went out-total $1,000. this is an unreliable vehicle for obvious reasons.

Former Pathfinder Owner - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Viper Rick - December 4 - 10:00 amThe TV ads gave me the impression that this was a much smaller vehicle.A visit to the dealer prompted a test drive that resulted in a purchase.Compared to my Pathfinder the Murano has more interior space. It has the power and handling of a performance car.The fit and finish is what I expected...EXCELLENT

My Rano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Rcs - November 28 - 10:00 amWhen shopping for a new "ride" we happened upon the Murano. Talk about an eye catching magnet. After test driving the Murano, well the rest is history as it now has 12,000 miles on it after a little over 8 months. I love my Rono and my kids do as well. My son is in parent taught driving lessons therefore he gets to experience the handling of it as well and says Mom, this car (drive one and you will see why we call it a car) is awesome!!!! In driving home from the dealer I found on my way from the dealer the stability of handling was alot safer feeling. I love this SUV

ripped off - 2003 Nissan Murano
By ripped off - October 31 - 5:06 pmI had my murano for four years now and I had it. I considered all the problems it cost me...alternator, replaced battery TWICE, replaced door locks, replaced gas door, NOW they are telling me that I need to replace my engine mount because its cracked. I drive my cars cautiously, and I need something reliable. Did I add that it left me stranded TWICE and I had to call for help. Thats when I had the alternator changed. Now that I have a family, I cannot be wasting my extra cash on repairs/replacement. I will NEVER purchase another Nissan. This will be my first and last.

sooooooooo nice - 2003 Nissan Murano
By soontoretire - October 28 - 2:00 amTook delivery of my polished pewter charcoal int. + all options except the entertainmente system on 2/28.Have logged a bit over 600 miles so far, combo of hiway and city, with an average MPG of 22.1 system calculated and manual. In that Im eligible to get on the social security wagon, its likely that my body has logged more miles than most who have an interest in the Murano design. However, this vehicle is by far the most comfortable and satisfying vehicle Ive driven in my lifetime.
