This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, both the wagon and the slow-selling C-Class coupe are history, leaving only the sedan. A V6 engine is now standard on every sedan model. The C230 gets a new 201-hp, 2.5-liter V6, while the C240 is renamed the C280 and has a 228-hp, 3.0-liter V6. The C320 is now the C350, boasting a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6. 4Matic-equipped vehicles get an improved five-speed automatic, and rear-wheel-drive models get a new seven-speed automatic.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat, only available as a sedan.

  • Nice - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I cant say enough good things about the car. It gets very good gas mileage (31 MPG on highway with 6 speed manual trans), its comfortable, looks good and handles well. People come up often and say "what a great looking car youve got." Ive added the iPod interface which is VERY nice (MB was the first auto mfg to integrate this feature). Your iPod sits in the glove box and you control it from the steering wheel. I also purchased Winter tires that make winter driving much easier to deal with.

  • Not really worth the $ - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Was my first and last Mercedes. thought this manufacture stood for quality, comfort and performance boy was I in for a shock. Required preventative maintenance on this car is expensive! First year about the same as others $400 - $600 its the subsequent years that get you doubling and tripling that. Couple that with numerous annoyance problems that were under warranty and corrected but still shouldnt happen. Items such as; squeaky pullies, engine maintenance light and etc. Decent layout inside but not comfortable; seats thin, low to the ground and small interior space dont accommodate us folks of 6 feet tall or greater. Do what I should have done pass this dog on by save some money.

Great car. I have only had it for two weeks but it rides smooth and comfortable. Pretty good power but it could use more torque like the 2.3 kompressor engine.

  • Fun car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I am retired and wanted a own a car that would be fun to drive and purchased the C-55 AMG model. I drive it to San Diego twice a year a distance of 1300 miles each way and will drive for a period up to 12 hours a day.I enjoy the drive and never get stiff or sore from the long hours. The car looks and runs great with all the power I need. I get lots of compliments on how good it looks.

  • Geared too low / Poor gas Mileage - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

Overall I love the car. 4500 miles with no repair issues. Car handles and rides great. Low road noise. Very good looking car. I have 3 minor issues; Manual transmission is geared to low, need a different rear end. This leads to poor fuel economy. Driving conservitavily I get 17-20 mpg around town. At 3500 miles the engine developed a low pitched howl. Dealer say it the metal chain on a nylon sprocket that drives the oil pump

  • Good deal - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Great car, very peppy motor, ride is superb, very quiet motor, no rattles. It is too small inside for a $43000 msrp. Some poor design choices inside such as too many knobs to activate radio and hvac, should be push button. Steering wheel controls do not include all of the functions that are common to better designed steering wheel controls. Getting out of drivers seat is not easy for guys over 200 lbs. Nonetheless, my son loves driving the car and I think its exterior lines are awesome. No troubles after 5000 miles. Though I am wary of keeping it beyond the warranty period due to MB recent history build quality

  • Nice Ride but ------- - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Overall nice car but breaks all around at 24K seems like poor quality. The car is babied and goes on country drives for the most part. I work from home so a trip to the store 2/wk. Now my wheel bearing is making noise with just 24K.

My ownership experience with this car has been outstanding from the day I purchased it to this day (almost two years). It is beautiful, reliable, easy to maneuver, and very quiet. Absolute joy to own!

  • A Joy to Drive - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

This car is truly a joy to drive! This is my fourth Mercedes (previous ones were 450SL,C240, and SLK230), and Ive also driven BMWs (including an 850ci). And this car, although certainly not the largest or most powerful of the Mercedes, compares most favorably to all of my past vehicles. The handling is smooth as silk, the acceleration quick, and the braking sure and steady. As in all of the Mercedes, I feel safe and secure with a very solid car beneath me. Oh, and dare I say that its a "beauty" too!

  • C350 moves! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

After testing the Jaguar X type, I purchased the Mercedes C350 instead, and am I glad that I did! The handling is buttery smooth, the pick-up incredible! The quality overall leaves nothing to be desired.
