Overview & Reviews
Lexus gives the LS 430 a midcycle freshening for 2004. Along with mild exterior revisions, the LS gets a number of new standard features, including a six-speed automatic transmission (with a manual-shift gate), adaptive headlights that swivel during turning maneuvers, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger and a moonroof. New options include the Pre-Collision system, which uses radar to detect an avoidable collision, and prepares for impact by tightening up the seatbelts, switching to sport mode on air suspension-equipped vehicles and activating maximum braking pressure. Among the other highlights are SmartAccess, which allows the driver to start up the LS without inserting a key; 18-inch wheels as part of the Sport Package; and a rear backup camera, expanded voice recognition functionality and Bluetooth hands-free phone compatibility on vehicles with the navigation system. An upgraded Mark Levinson stereo now offers seating position-optimized sound, and satellite radio is a new dealer-installed option.
- Superb ride quality, impressive array of standard and optional luxury features, top-notch interior materials, Lexus reliability.
- Not as athletic as some competitors, adding options raises the price to un-Lexus-like levels.

"Conservative, Reliable Luxury" - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By Murphy 2010 - November 22 - 11:46 pmI have owned and driven many cars in my life from cheap to expensive and I can honestly say that the 2004 Lexus LS430 that I currently have surpasses them all. The car is big but it handles very well and it is very quiet and luxurious and unlike other expensive cars like BMW and Mercedes the Lexus is very reliable so you are not constantly in the shop getting things repaired. The car also is not bad on gas when you compare it to other V-8s and even some V-6s. I also like the fact that although the car is very luxurious it is not ostentatious(flashy)because I am conservative and do not like a lot of attention. Lastly I had heard that Lexus Customer service was outstanding and it is.

LS 430 with European Sport Package - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By JayMac - November 16 - 2:00 amI absolutely love the car. I chose the Modern package of Navigation, Levinson sound system, reverse camera and 6 disc CD changer with XM satellitle radio as an option. The Premium package with front climate controled seats, rear heated seats, and intuitive parking assist. The e European Sport package with euro-tuned suspension, P245/ 45R18 tires, 18" x 7.5 JJ alloy wheels, and full size spare tire. And finally the Smart Key feature. The car looks, feels and rides incredible. I think I made a great decision in both dollars and reliability choosing this over the S430 Mercedes.

My Experience with the New LS430 - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By RajaReMax - October 10 - 2:00 amI just bought a new Black 2004 LS430 on 10/31/03. For the 1st few mornings after, I must admit to peeking in the garage to see if it was really there. This car is superb in every way. The car has a EuroSport suspension w/18wheels. A rearview camera is an entertaining feature as well as the Navigation & MarkLevinson sound system. A SmartKey enables a keyless system to enter & drive the car. With SmartKey, interior & sideview mirrors light up automatically when you simply walk up to the car. Also a big kick is the headturning factor...With style, luxury, power, quality & plenty of toys, this is understandably the highest rated luxury car.

Handling OK needs slight improvement - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By David Perrault - September 23 - 10:00 amDrove car at 120+mph for a time while going through Montana and although it hugged the road in a straight line beautifully the front end seemed to loosen in the corners. Needs to be tightened up a bit to give the driver a better sense of grip to the road.

Well well well - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By MSH - September 6 - 12:23 amI had to make this post because the last review was over two years ago. I burn through cars being a sales rep. I try to purchase them at least 2 years old so that I dont take the depreciation hit so hard. Looking for reliability after two BMWs, I bumped into this car on a MB lot. I felt foolish for not knowing that a car could be that much better. If you are thinking about purchasing this car do it! I am 66" and enjoy getting out of bed in the morning knowing I have a hour of alone time with my 430. Sometimes you become lulled into such a comfortable trance. I have found myself in my driveway on the phone with my laptop out. Never mind the office. Ultra package is great.

Kevins review - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By Kevin714 - May 24 - 2:00 amIve only owned my LS for a few weeks but I cant find and problem, and I have looked! The ride is fantanstic! Smooth and comfortable. The interior is nicely done and the seats are comfortable even with long drives. The power and acceleration of the LS is surprisingly quick, and this comes from a sports car fan. In addition, the service I recieved from the dealership and my sales person was 2nd to none. All this, and I have found that the LS has the best "bang" for the "buck", when comparing similar cars in its class, such as the BMW, Mercedes, and Jaguar.
