Overview & Reviews
The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.
- Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
- Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

Look elsewhere - 2006 Kia Sedona
By indiana - December 26 - 9:26 pmBought used w/25,000 miles it loves to ride on the back of a tow truck and has spent 1/4 of each year in the shop. Air bag sensors, accelerator pedal sticks, then it wont go at all brakes been replaced 2xs in 55,000 miles and need another set, tranny shifts poorly, battery goes bad, alternator, brake light sensor out and runs down battery. Change headlights and turn signals every 2 months, drinks power steering fluid, the dealership can never "duplicate" problems when car misbehaves, turn off call tow truck and have it towed, dont turn back on or they cant read the "code" and wont fix whatever is wrong. Electronic nightmare! I suggest you run quickly Toyota is worth the money

New Owner - 2006 Kia Sedona
By C R Earley - December 5 - 6:30 pmVery impressive acceleration from a standing start. After reaching cruise speeds the engine seems flat and slow to increase higher speeds in high gear, but even at 65 & 70 the ability to down shift is still there to gain power for passing. The braking is good for a vehicle of its size. They are a proper match for the vehicles power. The ride seemed harsh, and noisy over road bumps. A quick check of the tire pressure solved that. Kia is notorious for over inflating the tires. The tires had from 42 to 44 PSI from the lot. A drop to 34 PSI still gives a crisp feel to the handling along with a much improved ride. The gas mileage is pretty much as stated. Even with a heavy foot gets 21 MPG.

Love it -- A real surprise - 2006 Kia Sedona
By D P from Virginia - November 9 - 11:23 amLooked at minivans for 6 months. Almost bought a Honda, but same options were thousands more. Fully loaded Kia - leather, DVD, power everything - has a bigger engine, and warranty. I have driven it for nearly 7000 miles, and the gas mileage is getting better as I go along. I love the split, rear, fold down seats. Middle row also on a slide to provide even more room to the 3rd row. Glad I went with the Kia. I have suggested it to several friends--they too are considering a Sedona EX with all the bells and whistles. Would like a Nav system, but I can get the portable one for under $1000. Truly holding up to slogan -- Power to Surprise!

From car to minivan... - 2006 Kia Sedona
By coporateguy - July 14 - 8:40 amThis is my first minivan & as a 62" 210lb man, I must say, I love this car. Its roomy, user friendly, quick, smooth, nimble (for its size), and very safe. Yes the gas mileage could be better but for a vehicle/engine this size, its not bad.

much better than expected - 2006 Kia Sedona
By Richard Henry - June 28 - 10:06 amVery powerful engine and good five speed automatic with manual option. Comfortable for seven and the most safety features of any van. Averaging 21 mpg on mixed driving. Great price and financing, compared to other vans.

Plenty of room - 2006 Kia Sedona
By bigbootiejudy - May 21 - 2:46 pmMy husband told me I could NOT have a KIA, I went ahead and test drove it and took it to his work. I showed it to him and he was surprised that it was a KIA. We bought it and love it. I traded in a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan for this Sedona (more room). The only thing Ive had issues with is the side doors, sometimes they wont open all the way, but Ill get that fixed and itll be all good. I love this van and all my friends do too. Its great if you have children and like to travel, the rear seats fold ALL the way down. I personally think its better than my moms Montana. Check ya later, soccer moms.

Functional but Unreliable - 2006 Kia Sedona
By Dan - May 4 - 10:20 pmWe purchased this van for our expanding family in August 2006. I think after two years I can provide good insight. The van is comfortable and great on long trips, even with kids. It will swallow anything. The powertrain is smooth and powerful enough, if not all that responsive. Fuel economy is probably what can be expected from a 4500 lb minivan, I get 16 mpg in the city. The main problem is reliability. I have had trouble mainly with the brakes, an O2 sensor, and I had a fuel pump go out. I have warped two sets of front rotors in less than 25,000 miles, and Kia wont cover the second set under warranty even though they only lasted 10,000 miles. Beware of this issue on this van.

Economical surprise - 2006 Kia Sedona
By Farm Boy - April 22 - 11:33 amI have had reliability and economy problems with Ford, GM, & Chrysler. Honda and Toyota are extremely expensive. Decided to try something else. We decied to go out on a limb and try the Kia. What a surprise! We love it. Good economy, handles great and more reliable than other brands I have owned. The first vehicle I have owned in years that I can drive all day and not get a back ache. And all this for $8,000 less than a comparablly equiped Honda or Toyota. I would recommend it to anyone. Any one interested in a minivan should give the Sedona a good hard look. They are great vans.

Transmission problem - 2006 Kia Sedona
By PhilP - March 27 - 3:33 amLove the vehicle but have started having transmission/starting problems. Would not start in Park, dealer adjusted cable, now having trouble getting into Drive. Maybe dealer tech needs training. I am bringing it back to get fixed again. Only have 17K miles. Also drivers side passenger door sometimes will stay in open position and sometimes not, dealer lubricated but still is intermittent. I think it may be that the mechanics need more training.
