This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

  • Better than a Sienna - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

We recently had an accident in our 2004 Toyota Sienna and got a new minivan. The Sedona was a top contender because of its excellent safety ratings, outstanding warranty and value. So far great experience, I like it better than our Sienna. It has plenty of room all around, seems very solidly built (no problems so far, the Sienna had problems right away), offers a decent driving experience (hey, its a minivan) and was a terrific value. Not only $4,000 cheaper than the Sienna but fully loaded and 0% financing. There are a few issues, some inherent in minivans, some are just minor annoyances, but overall a great family vehicle. If you are on the market for a van make sure you check it out.

  • The Perfect Minivan? - 2006 Kia Sedona

After spending 2 months researching and test driving minivans, we bought the 2006 LX Sedona. It is far superior to the outgoing model. It has everything you could need in a modern minivan. The excellent standard safety equipment was a major factor in our decision. The engine is strong and fuel efficient. The minivan has a firm, but not harsh, ride that makes it feel nimble and handles like a much smaller vehicle. The interior materials are very good and only slightly less than Toyota or Honda. Great value at $23,665, that is $3K-5K less than Toyota/Honda. Ill put the $3K-5K into my kids college fund instead. Simply a must for anyone shopping for a minivan.

  • Worth every penny - 2006 Kia Sedona

My wife and I have owned a Voyager and a Caravan. From the start it was one problem after another. We made the decision to try the newly remodeled Sedona. It has been by far the best minivan we have owned. The ride is very nice and the interior is roomy and very comfortable. What you get for the price beats anything out there in my opinion.

I have to say I love this van. It drives great, it has a lot of pick up and go and it looks great. This is my third van I owned and my favorite. I had a Ford before and a 2004 Kia Sedona. This model is so much better than the older one by far. Im keeping this one for a long time

  • Van is trying to kill us - 2006 Kia Sedona

Twice in a 12-month period our throttle body has needed replacing. "Normal" auto shops wont touch a Kia, so emergency repairs are a no-go: not helpful when mom has two babies in carseats and is literally stranded with a self-decelerating van on the side of a highway.

  • Nice Van - Highly recommend. - 2006 Kia Sedona

Bought this 2006 in 2011 with under 40K miles on it. No problems - easy to work on. I change my own oil and just flushed the transmission fluid by myself. I was hesitant to buy with all the bad reviews - think most posters just got lemons - I had a Mercury Sable that had all the problems described in the other posts.

  • No Dealership In CA - 2006 Kia Sedona

driving this vehicle for a year is not that good because for the first two mos of driving, i noticed the popping noise from driver side or when you hitting pot holes and turning.after a year, the a/c compressor has a knocking noise and need replacement and they need to order the Dont buy kia when you are in california or dont go to california when you have this kia cars..They dont have participating dealer in ca.......parts.when you turn L/R/maneuver or backing, you need extra effort.

  • 2006 Sedona "Lemon" - 2006 Kia Sedona

Within a few weeks the transmission went out. The technicians had difficulty diagnosing the problem before deciding to order a new transmission from Korea. Two "loaner vehicles were provided. Both of these Sedona’s had electrical malfunctions. The fuel pump has been replaced. The intake air system has failed. The tire pressure sensors have failed. The horn has failed and Kia installed the "wrong" replacement making yet two more trips back to the shop. The vehicle has spent 1/4 of its life in the shop. Kia has failed to honor terms of extended warranty contract. Do not buy Kia.

  • Kia yeah right! - 2006 Kia Sedona

I will honestly say I never thought Id ever own a Kia. A minivan maybe but "no not a Kia". Well this minivan is the real deal. Lets start with Toyota and Honda, well thats if you can push your way to the front of the line at the stealership and deal with the "our way or the highway" attitude. Well I did some research and bypassed the the red dots all together and went to the local Kia dealer and test drove the Sedona LX . Bought it! Bottom of the line and still exceptional in every way. Build quality and performance are remarkable; very quiet on the highway. My only complaint so far is with the exterior its kinda bland but not ugly.

  • Worst vehicle have ever owned! - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

Have owned the vehicle for 5 years and have had nothing but problems for 4. Back up sensors constantly malfunctioning, tires shot after hardly any miles, doors freeze shut all winter, AC has gone out twice, bushings replaced twice, ignition issues, too many problems to list. Is in the shop at least every two months. Shop plugs it into the computer, doesnt show code and they cant replicate the problem.
