Overview & Reviews
Kia joins the minivan rumble with the introduction of the Sedona, the lowest-priced minivan in America. Standard on the Sedona are such niceties as air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and auto on/off headlights. Upscale EX models get a CD player, interior wood trim and power front seats. All Sedonas benefit from Kia's impressive Long Haul Warranty with drivetrain protection for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
- Unbeatable price, attractive array of standard goodies, great warranty package.
- Missing some key minivan features, engine could use more power.

A gamble that is still paying off - 2002 Kia Sedona
By 1st time van owner - November 22 - 2:00 amWe bought the Sedona because it was about $10K less than what I was going to pay for an Odyssey. People warned me about poor build quality and other things. The build quality is pretty good. You simply get a very good car for the price. Its engine is powerful enough if you dont go over 85 mph very often. The handling sucks, it feel like the suspension is well too soft or the van is too heavy. Still, we have not experienced a single problem, so I guess the gambling is paying off.

By dobjob - October 9 - 10:00 amWe just bought our new Sedona and are delighted with it. We paid 22k for an EX with leather, sunroof, homelink and ABS. We got the 0% financing for 3 years so thats an added bonus.

Bad Experience. Unsafe .. and others think so too - 2002 Kia Sedona
By nickelrider - September 27 - 2:18 pmWarning- XXX -Warning Fair Warning to anyone considering this car. It is totally unsafe as it will just turn off in the middle of driving- anywhere. Not good for what most buy as a family car. Left my wife and kids stranded 3 times and me several times as well. Could be fuel pump/filter, air mass sensor, TPS, IPM Module, Junction Box, cold air sensor, or the key cylinder. My mechanic is stumped. Rust Bucket too. The sliding door handle fell off and there are other small hardware issues. At least I get $ 250.00 to haul her away. I cannot in good conscience sell this to another party based on what I know. Bottom line- KIAs reliability just plain sucks!! Enough said.

Outstanding Value - 2002 Kia Sedona
By BlackBear - September 27 - 10:00 amOne of the best vehicles I have ever purchased. Loads of standard equipment for thousands less. The envy of all the Dodge Van owners on my street. Look no further than this van for price, quality and reliability. If you were in the hunt for a van choose the Sedona. 5 star crash rating and 10 year warranty. What else can I say?

Using the Warranty a Lot!! - 2002 Kia Sedona
By Tired of the hassle - September 15 - 2:00 amWe bought this van when due with our second child. We have had a lot of challenges with it so far, and are currently working on getting out of it. Ive used the roadside assistance 3 times for a dead battery and had it in for service to replace the cam seals. The darned thing was leaking oil at 5000 miles! The car has not started on 3 separate occasions, which stinks when youre pregnant and relying on it! I would not buy one again, nor would I recommend it to friends. When it runs its a nice enough van. A bit loud, but basically a nice, albeit unreliable van.

Great Car for Great Price - 2002 Kia Sedona
By JamesJay - July 16 - 2:00 amThis is a good car! We had a suburban and had to down size -- thats what we thought. Of course we gave up room, but this car made up for that in so many ways. I love the warranty. In the Suburban we were spending thousands a year to fix it -- it was a 1999 too. Now weve got a 2003 Sedona with a great warranty. After trading in the suburban, we only had to borrow a few thousand dollars for a new car. Its a great buy.

RoadTrip - 2002 Kia Sedona
By Nebraska - July 9 - 10:00 amWe have had our van since July 27,2001. It has been a great van and we love it. We have made three trips to Arizona with absolutely no problems. We had been looking for a new van for 6 months or so and we were getting frustrated with dealerships. I was getting the oil changed on my 2001 Rio when I saw the Sedona. I called my wife and had her meet me at the dealership. Lake Manawa Kia in Council Bluffs IA was the best to deal with. They gave us exactly what we needed for our trade in(that was the problem with the other dealers) and we also got the 1.9% financing for 5 years. We were out the door for only $23,000 with a full loaded van.
