This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

  • Great Van - 2006 Kia Sedona

We shopped for two months and tried all makes of vans. After driving the Kia we were sold. I liked the Honda but comparably equipped it was 7000 dollars more and they drove identical-- actually I thought the Kia was more comfortable. I have not had to return to the dealer for any factory defects. I have back trouble and what amazes me is my ability to drive long distances without getting the back ache like other vans Ive owned. Anyone shopping for a van would do them selves an injustice to not consider the Kia. I get 19 mpg around town and up to 23 on the highway.

I recently bought the van, at first i wasnt expecting much. The gold color on the van didnt really appeal to me, and the interior color wasnt made for a 20 year old. However, the van performed way beyond my expectations. The V6 engine is powerful, the acceleration gives the car a smooth ride, the comfortable seats makes waiting in LA traffic relaxing! =] Also, the customer service at Allstar Kia is the best! Professional, honest, and wonderful

The new design Kia minivan for 2006 rivals the best sellers and employs all the neat things like stow-n-go seating, cubbys and cup holders galore, and easy to read instrument panel; however the best part is the unrivaled safety (side and head airbags, 5 star front and side rating) and the unchallenged 10 year drive train warranty and 60K or 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. No doubt about it, the Kia minivan is the best in safety, warranty, and price while the new design is a head turner for Honda and Toyota owners! We love ours.

  • Excellent van for the money! - 2006 Kia Sedona

Since we have our first child on the way, safety was paramount. Once I found out about the crash ratings for this van, I was at the dealer in a matter of days. We really like how easily it drives and all the comfort features like tri-zone climate control standard. Definitely look long and hard at this van if you are in the minivan market - you wont be disappointed.

As my wife is handicapped and she was having difficulty in entering our 2003 Dodge Sport Van, I visited every different dealership in our area and measured every minivan for seat height etc. We then proceeded to try those vans with the lowest threshold etc. and the Kia won hands down as my wife slid in with no problems. We purchased the vehicle after a test drive and we both find it very comfortable and easy to drive. This is a top of the line unit, solid, and relatively quiet even with the sun roof in the open position. Much quieter than the Dodge Caravan. Gas mileage has been great. 25mpg city/highway average and I anticipate 30/34 mpg on straight highway at 65/70 mph. A great van for the dollar.

  • Waiting for results - 2006 Kia Sedona

This is my first minivan purchase; everything else I have owned has been a car, but starting a new family persuaded me into the "Family" car. Overall, I love the van, the features, and space. Comparing it to other competitors, I found that it felt more solid and car-like than others. The price was also significantly lower for equivalent features. Theyve built a winner I think. A couple of problems that still need to be fixed though. At 1200 miles, the check engine light came on because of misfiring. Ever since then it has been back in the shop every 750 miles or so, and they still dont know what is wrong with it. Hopefully gas mileage will go up after this problem is fixed.

  • Much better than I ever expected - 2006 Kia Sedona

Saw all the great press from the car mags, consumer reports, IIHS, etc. and then saw the massive incentives and really incredible prices at the end of the year... they seemed too good to pass up. We wanted an Odyssey, but, even at invoice it was $6-7K more than the Sedona. That pushed me over the edge and we decided to give Kia a chance. So far its far exceeded my expectations. While not perfect, for what we paid, we have no complaints.

  • Not a bad value - 2006 Kia Sedona

Bought this car in 2010 when family expanded with twins. Rear passenger power door works about about 10% of the time. Only a few trips to mechanic for some leaks, oil and radiator. But expensive repairs when needed. Blows signal bulbs and headlight bulbs every three months, which I learned to fix proficiently on my own. Drove this van on numerous family trips all over, and some very long distance trips as well. Never once did it break down and leave us stranded, never once did it fail to start. Not the highest quality, but great value. I couldnt afford a Honda or Toyota, but those have their own problems too, just research them. Also we were severely rear ended with all of my kids in the car, including a three year-old in the third row seat. The rear window blew up but the door stayed solid and didnt come anywhere near the third row. At the end of the day I would trust a Kia with my family.

  • My other car is a Camaro SS - 2006 Kia Sedona

My other cars are a 1999 Camaro SS and a 1996 Impala SS, so I am used to vehicles with power and good handling. Within its limits (it is a minvan) the Kias handling is excellent and the engine makes good power under all conditions. Amazing for a 4500 lbs minivan. My whole family loves this vehicle.

  • Great Family Vehicle - 2006 Kia Sedona

We purchased this minivan in August 2006 to accommodate our expected second child. Minivans arent cool, but for functionality and practicality for families, they really cant be beat. We purchased this van due to the value, warranty, and exceptional safety ratings, even for the base model. The van drives very well and is very comfortable on long trips. I am 6 4" and dont get fatigued during long trips. The engine is smooth and very adequate. Handling is wobbly, but it is a van not a sports car. Stereo very good for the base model. Fuel economy a little worse than expected. This thing will swallow a Volkswagen, yet is as easy to park and maneuver as my old honda civic.
