Overview & Reviews
Ford's big sedan receives a number of updates for 2003. A new full-perimeter frame uses strong, lightweight hydroformed steel sections for the front rails to improve frontal and offset crash performance. Redesigned frame crossmembers and new optional side impact airbags improve side impact crash performance. Additionally, the new frame -- combined with a redesigned independent front suspension and new monotube shock absorbers -- contributes to a smoother, more controlled ride and improved handling. Other changes include a new variable ratio rack and pinion steering system with variable power assist and a new dual-rate brake booster that automatically supplies full braking power in a panic stop. Inside, revised seats offer improved comfort and appearance; the cupholders are new; and a three-point seatbelt has been added for the rear center passenger.
- Rear-wheel drive, plenty of interior space, comfortable ride, excellent crash-test results.
- Large size makes it difficult to park and maneuver.

a few more adjustments... - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By Jeff - June 26 - 12:16 amIve had three Vics (85,89,03). I like the room (Im 6-3). You can fit two child seats in back and still squeeze someone in between. And the safety of a larger car-it can take a decent thump. The car "sits" nicely on the road (not a "boat"). Aerodynamically quiet-I can have the windows down at 55 and the air flows quietly around the car. Unfortunately, the noise I do hear comes from the tranny (my 89 was the same way!) a sort of low pitched whine - like blowing across the top of a nearly full soda bottle.Another peeve is the way the trunk lid holds water until you open it, then it drips into the trunk and on your head. Gets about 20mpg on 300 mi./wk. mostly rural, varied. Not too bad!

My blue-collar Bentley - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By Heroic Oaf - April 23 - 3:06 amWeve had this car for almost a year as of this writing and are very, very satisfied with its performance and comfort. Large, yet modest. Doesnt leak a drop of nothin, except a/c condensation. Yes, we did have to replace a rear axle shaft a few months in, but flawless otherwise. Though it gets a lousy 12 mpg in the city, it gets 28 to 30 on the highway - incredible! And thats with three adult-sized people with luggage. Smooth as honey on the interstate.

Great car - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By bob cox - February 6 - 2:46 amI purchased this car new after owning a couple of Tauruses, a Sable and a Grand Marquis. I chose the Sport package and it is awesome. The power, handling and seating is so much better than the Grand Marquis. This car has done 90,000 miles, both long trips and local driving and has only had one non- maintenance repair, the rear air suspension compressor at 60,000 miles. Fuel mileage is consistently in the 26 mpg range even with the lower differential gearing of the Sport pkg. Im in process of buying a 7000 mile 2006 LX Sport to replace it. Best car Ive ever owned.

03 Crown Vic - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By JayB - December 27 - 2:00 amThe new Crown Victoria has several design and mechanical innovations for 2003 that improve its ride and handling, but it will always be what it has always been - a large, traditional, body-on-frame, rear-wheel drive sedan that comfortably transports 5 or 6 adults. It is excellent value for the money it costs, and maneuvers in city traffic more nimbly than one would expect of a car this size.

My Crown Vic - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By Paul C. Pistone - June 11 - 10:00 amPurchased my Crown Victoria after having a Buick Le Sabre. I wanted the additional room and safety that the Crown Victoria offers. A great feeling having that much space around you, makes driving a pleasure. Great for long or short trips, excellent manueverability and handling for its size. Offers a very controlled yet smooth, almost luxury ride.

SOLID SEDAN - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By Crowned Vic - June 2 - 2:00 amFortunately, there is still a nice driving rear wheel drive sedan. The Crown Vic has plenty of power for the highway, and is comfortable on long hauls. The only thing wrong with the car is the dealer that I purchased the car from. If youre ever in Southern California, avoid San Juan Capistrano Ford. There are plenty of other Ford dealers.

Crown Vic LX Sport - a great car - 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
By EddieJay - April 9 - 10:00 amThis car is a great vehicle to own. Potential buyers should be a aware that youre looking at a car that has the same chasis, engine, and trans as a Town Car and its about $14K less. It performs exceptionally well and its overall comfort is exceptional. There has been some criticism of the fuel economy. 20-22 MPG is very acceptable with a V-8 that performs so well
