Overview & Reviews
A trio of new colors -- Sandstone Metallic, Silver Birch and Sport Red Metallic -- are the lone changes for this year.
- Powerful engine lineup, multiple drivetrain configurations, capable brakes, substantial towing and hauling capacities.
- Spotty build quality, mediocre interior materials.

2004 chevy 2500 HD - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By clay - November 12 - 11:03 pmIve owned this truck for almost one year and I am thoughly impressed with it. The only complaints I have beside the poor mileage 6.0 L. motor is that the sheet metal is way too thin. This is supposed to a heavy duty truck! Theyre great trucks to drive or pull with, but for working out of with guys loading tools in the back and especially over the sides they are too easily dented. The only mechanical issues Ive encountered is a irritating wind noise on the passenger side at the windshield and an annoying rattle inside the steering column. I drive off road daily on construction sites and the rattle developed quickly. This the second HD Ive had with this problem. But overall a great truck.

Duramax - Allison - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By DMax - August 22 - 2:00 amQuiet, outstanding comfort. A little slow on acceleration to pass at highway speeds. Lots of torque! Good turning radius for long-bed truck. 18- 19 mpg combination highway and around town, 20+ on steady highway driving. Have not yet tried heavy towing. Good access to rear seat in open areas but a bit difficult in tight parking spots. The fit and finish is absolutely perfect - I have not been able to locate a single flaw.

Awesome Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By jdaniell - July 16 - 2:00 amThis is my first Chevy and I am very impressed. I drove the Dodge and Ford and the Chevy was much quieter (Duramax Diesel) and the proformance was better than that of the Dodge. Very pleased with my new truck.

Bills new 2004 Chev - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By Bill Craig - February 27 - 2:00 amI was impressed the first time I drove this truck by the smothness of the 2500 HD 4 wheel drive. Much improved over previous models ride. Although the truck still has less than 700 miles I have notice that the gas mileage is improving as the miles add up. The progamable features which allow custom features is much better than the fixed features of earlier models. Power and towing is impressive. I have towed my John Deere tractor (6000 lb + 2500 trailer) up an gravel road incline on my ranch and the truck did not show any signs of slipage of the transmission or lack of torque from the engine.

Duramax Diesel - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By wolfe - June 10 - 2:00 amI owned a Silverado with the 6.2 Detroit Diesel, and it now has over 300,000 miles. I bought the new Chevy with the Duramax for serveral reasons, but the Duramax and Allison transmission make this truck a truly great vehicle. There is literally no comparison in the market, and the improved torque and horsepower on the Duramax is an incredible feat. The fuel economy is up substantially, and the emissions are down. I look at this truck as a vehicle that will last past the point of wanting to keep driving it. This is a great truck!

Excellent Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By WHG4AU - January 28 - 9:46 pmI purchased this truck brand new from the dealer and have been extremely satisfied with it so far. The interior comfort is fantastic for a guy 68". Performance is great except for the fuel mileage. 13 MPG is my average around town. I added an Airade intake and a throttle body spacer along with a Flowmaster exhaust and it sounds and performs great! Terriffic power and reliability. Comfortable ride with a car-like feel. I fully recommend the Chevrolet 2500HD trucks!

Great work truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By mike3939 - December 22 - 6:43 pmThis truck really pulls. My trailer is 34 and heavy. This truck will pull the load up hill and pass most anything on the road. The brace running up the rear wheel wells lacks class. 13 MPG or 10 MPG towing. The gas engine was considerably less expensive to buy, maintain, and unleaded is fuel is cheaper. Glad I choose a gas engine.
