I Love my Truck - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By COBIABOATS - July 29 - 10:00 amI dont think they thought out the location of the parking brake to well but I do love my HD. I research the 6.0 engine and chose it for the 300 horses it delivers. ( I use to have a 1978 Chevy with a 454). Under load it rides like my Sevile. While towing an 8,000 lb 26.5 Cobiaboat daycruiser I had to make an emergency stop to avoid hitting an airhead who cut me off. I went from 35 to zero on a downhill with my load and barely squeaked the tires. I only use my truck on weekends to tow my boat or my fifthwheel so Ill get 20 years out of this truck!

2001 Chevy 2500HD - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By Dave in Michigan - October 24 - 8:46 amPurchased at 30k miles, now 52k, no mechanical problems at all, runs great. Factory Firestone tires were terrible for ride and traction, switched to 265 BFG All Terrains, huge improvement. I like everything but the gas mileage. I get about 11.5 mpg.

Its Been A Good Truck - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By TOMKAT - April 28 - 2:00 amMy truck has the 6.0 L. engine, which for my money does everything it should. The truck has plenty of power and has been reliable. The few problems that I had were, a loose heat sheild on the exhaust, chrome came off the grill, and rear u-joints went at about 30,000 mi.. I feel I use the truck more than most of the yuppies who buy the big extended cab diesel. I plow snow with it and it also does all the work on my farm. I would buy this truck again in a heartbeat.

Best Truck - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By Chevy Lover - December 31 - 10:00 amBest truck has the 8.1 with the allison tranny. Has power and with a full load it wont bog down. All one ton and in great condition lots of miles over 216k but still runs strong, I never have a problem with the truck, I use it to pull and drive on a daily basis. The 4x4 works great too. When needing to it will turn all 4 tires without a problem. With all the normal maintenance it runs strong with no problems. I highly recommend this truck for any occasion or any reason.

Excellent Work Horse!!! - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By 6stringrevolver - December 21 - 2:00 amOverall, the best truck Ive ever owned or driven. It tows and hauls awesome. The ride is great! Seats 5 adults comfortable with the option of a 6th. Tough truck with a strong drive train!! I highly recommend it for anyone who is towing a trailer and needs to pack the family or a bunch of friends!! Very reliable and the electronic sensors make it so a dummy could maintain it!

buyer beware! - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
By chevynomore - August 1 - 2:00 amBought this pickup brand new - problems from the start, many of which other owners are also reporting. Worst problem is the notorious GM piston slap; started at 11000 miles and is getting worse - sounds like a diesel at startup. GM insists the piston slap is normal. Also, one side of the box is 2" lower than the other side, transfer case is very noisy, steering column rattles and thumps during turns. I do not expect these problems from a 2 year old, $30k vehicle. GM customer service is virtually non-existent.
