This Year's Model Updates:

The Monte Carlo receives significant revisions for 2006. On the outside, Chevrolet has altered the car's styling with new front-end styling and taillights. Inside, the Monte Carlo benefits from a redesigned instrument panel, improved audio systems, more comfortable seats and standard front side airbags. Mechanical changes include a stronger body structure, retuned suspension geometry for enhanced stability and improved braking systems. There are also new engines for the Chevy car: a base 3.5-liter V6, an upgraded 3.9-liter V6 and a new 5.3-liter V8 for the SS trim, which replaces last year's supercharged V6. Finally, the lineup of trim levels has been shuffled slightly to accommodate a new luxury-oriented LTZ trim.

Pros:
  • Spacious interior, low sticker price, powerful engine choices.
Cons:
  • Vague steering detracts from handling, off-the-line torque steer in the SS.

This car rides very smooth. Handles easy. Impressed with the gas mileage that we get around town. Lots of trunk space. Plenty of room to move around inside the car.

I bought my car at a dealership for $1,200 off the sticker price; I walked out paying $6,000 even for everything, including the plate. The car had over 100,000 miles on it, but they were high way miles, so the car is still in EXCELLENT condition. Although it has a high amount of high way miles, it still runs like its brand new. The car is in perfect condition, exterior and interior. I have been driving it for almost a year and the only problem Ive had is an obnoxious clicking that seems to be related to the air vents. Other than that, it is a WONDERFUL car.

  • New Monte Carlo - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Bought my new black Monte LT and so far really like it. It now has 5,000 miles on the clock and the engine feels like it has loosened up a bit giving me better mileage and power. I have got over 30 on the highway and usually 24-25 in town. This car handles too! I could wish for exterior door molding protection as I had to order that from Chevy parts and the floor shifter should have indicators like they used to. I also would prefer it if the rear spoiler was an option instead of std.

Excellent front wheel drive performance coupe. I have owned performance coupes since the late 1960s (GTO, Cuda, Olds 442, Road Runner, Trans AM and Malibu SS) and this car reminds me allot of the 1969 GTO Judge I owned - in terms of handling, performance and pure fun to drive. Highly recommended..

I bought an 06 Monte Carlo LT about a year ago. I loved it when I first bought it, but later Im starting to double think this car. The shifter button sticks, thus causing the key not to come out of the ignition at times..Had to replace my Power Steering already, AND Im starting to have transmission problems...Its sad, and the parts are so expensive! It looks cool, however. And I love the power it shoots out for a V6. I wouldnt recommend this vehicle to anyone with toddlers, or infants. Its hard to get in and out of the backseat. Ive owned this for a year, and Im selling it for something more reliable.

  • My Monte SS - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

First of all I picked the Monte Carlo SS because I love driving and around my area there are many winding country roads which makes this car a lot of fun to drive. Softer suspensions are no fun at all on these kinds of roads. The power of this car makes it easy to to pass slower moving traffic and is also quite economical on highways. Even though I am 59 I feel 30 driving this car. It is very comfortable when driving on highways or other smooth road surfaces.I usually change cars every 4 years but I will be keeping this one much longer. This is my best and most fun to drive car Ive ever had. Quite a switch from 2 Malibus in a row to this car.

  • Amazing car for the money - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I have fallen in love with this car. It has been a blast to drive. Only thing makes it so great is that the 3.9 liter engine is breath taking for the gas mileage. It is amazing, it just smokes all my friends cars in everthing. I could never ask for nothing more from this car. It delivers all a guy going into college could want. muscle car power with the looks and comfront of luxury sedan which IS nothing more that anyone could ask for the price. Best car I have driven in a longtime. just a work of art in every way. A total dream to drive. You will love this car for the money

  • Built in Oshawa CA-JD Powers Plant Award - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Built by proud Canadians - JD Powers award for the plant that built my car - very cool! Interior and exterior of car turns my friends heads - wow very cool car. Recent trip on expressway at 67 mph on cruise - got 35.1 mpg - way above the 31 mpg rating for the 3.5 V-6 engine in my Monte Carlo LT model - great job Chev - way better than my Olds Cutlass Supreme LS. Onstar and XM features are great - only have 500 miles in 6 weeks but this is obviously a keeper

  • Worth serious consideration - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

Chevy did a real nice job of touching up this reliable performer, making it more sleek in design and improving both the appearance and functionality of interior controls. What sold me was a combination of the fuel economy and the flex fuel engine offered in the 3.5L V-6, which runs on both unleaded, as well as E85 fuel. Finally, the base engine, in addition to being very miserly on fuel, has a surprising amount of power and has the feel of a sports coupe. This vehicle is worth both a test drive and serious consideration against any other manufacturer.
