Overview & Reviews
Deep Purple paint is gone. First year for the optional OnStar communications system, a 24-hour roadside assistance network that is accessed through a dealer-installed cellular phone.
- Good power in Z34 guise, value priced, relatively roomy interior.
- Tired, boring sheetmetal, Z34 model not visually distinct.

Good car - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By joker42369 - November 7 - 1:56 amThis is a very good car for any time of the year. The 3.1 liter model still came with leather seats for me, and gets good gas mileage while still putting in some good power. Its pretty heavy, but thats OK for the winter. It has always started up for me and never given me any problems. Its in my family to stay.

Functional, stylish, fun - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By C Keene - May 10 - 2:00 amI actually like the looks of the 99 better than the 00, except for the Lumina overtones. The car is one of the most comfortable highway cars for the money. Pity that GM bean counters always choose the lowest bidder when it comes to interior plastics. If Honda and VW can find suppliers of quality pastic materials, why cant GM? I tore off the Z-34 emblems as I thought it was silly when they replaced the 3.4 engine with the 3.8. I simply upgraded the car by retrofitting SS emblems from the Camaro (RIP).

My best car - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By greg miller - January 17 - 4:20 amThis car has never been back to the dealer. I do my own oil changes and inspections. Original battery, brakes. Just replaced tires two months ago. Everything works like new. Best cornering full sized car; like its on rails. Great sound system. Good leg room. Big trunk. Black. Dale Earnhardt car. 25 MPG on 80 MPH trips to Las Vegas.

Bought it out of showroom - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By dnaangel - January 27 - 9:55 amBought this car in 1999 out of the showroom and STILL use it as my daily driver. 178k miles and still runs strong, fun car to drive though not as much umph as it used to (to be expected) Definitely showing it age after 15+ years of use. No major issues as of yet (*Knocks on wood*), have changed the Waterpump, Fuel Filter, Sunroof and Passenger side window motors, Radiator and Vaccum line to A/C compressor as well as Valve Cover Gaskets over those 15 years, thats about it on major repairs. To this day Sunroof and A/C still work, will still lay rubber through 2nd gear and loves to be opened up.

Great Basic Transport - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Ol Reliable - December 21 - 2:00 amI bought this car new in 5/99, and have had NO problems with it at all. The only items Ive had to replace after 65000 miles are the tires, and the pads on the front disc brakes. This car is not a performance vehicle, but rather a reliable, comfortable car for every day travel or long distance trips.

OK car - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Shawn - August 19 - 11:23 pmI have had my Monte Carlo for almost two years. Pretty good overall car. Its very reliable and I havent had too many problems with it. However, the gas mileage is terrible in the city, I average about 18 mpg, much better on the road though. The hinge on the glove compartment broke, and braking in the rain was bad until I had the front fender liners trimmed. Overall I have been happy with the performance, never lost a race with any high-schoolers at stop lights with their Civics and Eclipses!

Fast and smooth, unless your stopping. - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By Adirondack - December 24 - 2:00 amThis car looks great, handles well, and was well constructed. I received a lot of compliments about its looks and smooth ride. Just keep the brakes well maintained.

I like em "low and wide" - 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
By jimmie guillory - September 21 - 4:43 pmThis was the last year for this model. Now Chevy has gone to the tall and narrow styling which has no appeal for me. My Monte Carlo has been a reliable and comfortable piece of transportation. And the gas mileage on the hiway approches 30 mpg. Not too shabby!
