This Year's Model Updates:

An all-new model last year, the Volkswagen Eos enters 2008 with revisions to its trim levels. The most significant of these changes is the introduction of the four-cylinder model's "Lux" trim, which comes with the luxury features of the V6-powered Eos.

Pros:
  • Power-retractable hardtop with integrated glass sunroof, plenty of zip from base turbocharged engine, handsome styling, high-quality cockpit furnishings.

  • Good choice - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

My 08 Eos has had almost no problems in the first month. No leaks, no big wind noise, no build problems. Great power and the DSG is awesome. Of course, this car is about the top - real showoff moves. Its also practical because of this top, even in the midwest. If youre looking for fun with enough room for some friends or a golf bag in the back seat, the Eos is the best choice out there.

  • Transmission problems right off the lot - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

I am frustrated typing this because I really do love my car, aside from the fact that it very well may be a lemon. Soon after purchasing it started puttering and having trouble shifting gears. When releasing the brake it jumped. I took it in only to find out the computer chip to my transmission was faulty and it needed to be replaced. They replaced it and literally within a few hundered miles of driving it the transmission is acting up again. I tried to take it in to get it fixed and Volkwagen claims there is no issue. I dont know where else to go with this! I am very frustrated. The transmission should not be an inssue for a brand new car! Sensors were off for the hard top too.

Traded in my TT roadster. Love the power plant. Love the transmission. Love the roof. Got 20K on it now; no regrets at all (well, I wish Id gotten the three years free maintenance but thats about it). Oh, and I guess I wish id gotten the ipod dock instead of the generic input jack.

  • Classy and FUN - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

Ive had my 2008 Eos for about a month. The exterior design is classy and it s FUN to drive. The back seat is perfect for my 4 year old grand daughters car seat plus groceries/shopping purchases. Rear visibility is good. Seats are comfortable. With the turbo its impossible to know youre driving a 4c. I drive to work with the top down and put it up in the parking lot for the day. Then, put it down for my return drive home in the evening. It only takes about 25 seconds to put the top up/down. So far its the absolutely perfect "classy and FUN" car for me. One drawback. Its hard to get out of the car. At 56", I need to pull the seat forward to use the clutch.

  • Problems, Problems - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

Shortly after buying the car it had accelleration problems, it would hesitate and the jump in causing you to be pushed forward in your seat. It was fixed by garage but after it was done the gas mileage was drastically reduced. This has not been fixed.I have leak in trunk which has not been fixed and dealership where I live is not cooperating to fix. With this water leak my vehicle is worthless. I have poblem with trunk release, condenastion or ice on inside windows and the top is rubbing on something becasue paint has been rubbed off. I have squeal in breaks and was told it is normal- really I have had many cars but none had this unless there was abreak problem.

  • Sadly Disappointed - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

I have a 2008 2Turbo Eos for just over 1 year I had to bring into the dealership for service a few times: hard top would not go down, coolant system leak. My car would run low on oil not long after a scheduled maintenance oil change. I was told that I must frequently check the oil in- between recommended oil changes because the car will burn oil fast. This should not be with a "high line car" just over one year old. A recall was recently done "What"? The trunk latch would close back soon after unlocking. Too many problems.

  • Love the car but lots of issues - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

I bought my 2008 Eos and it has really been an enjoyable car to drive, when it is not at the dealership. So far I have taken it in at least 4 times, 3 of which for the same issues. Small leakage in the drivers window during a heavy rain, auto roll up windows do not always go back up, and breaks squeal despite the dealership telling me they are fine, it is just the way VW made them. The other issue I had recently was the battery needing to be replaced at about 30K miles (this was causing the trunk latch in the car to not pop the trunk completely open).

  • AWESOME - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

We have been looking at these cars for quite some time. I recently bought an 09 with low miles. The car lot gave me the story that some little old lady drove the car and just traded it in on a new one. I believe they tell that story to all buyers. I found an old insurance card in the car and found a number for the name on the card. When I called, it was an old lady and she was very nice. She loved the car and the only reason to get rid of it was she traded in on a brand new one that was the exact same model and color. She said no problems with leaks or oil and it was very dependable. I bought the car for my 17 year old daughter and I really like it.

I choose my car because perfect for me, but after I buyed is trouble after trouble , the seats , the seat belts , the battery, the engine light, the roof leaking, the front glass leaking, and I just think about and make me mad because you buy a new car and you should feel secure well Im not with this one. the car is pretty and fast thats it .

  • dont buy an eos - 2008 Volkswagen EOS

I bought a brand new (08) EOS and all Ive had is problems!!! I will never buy a VW ever again. VWs oil consumption standards are so low stating that it is "allowable" and "acceptable" for my EOS to burn through .5 quarts every 600 miles (4 qts per 4800) and until it exceeds that, VW and the dealer wont repair or address this issue. My car holds 4.9 quarts of oil, that means that if I were to wait the reccommended 5000 miles in between oil changes my car would be nearly out of oil. It has ran out of oil twice so far and unless I keep oil in the trunk and keep adding it it will continue to burn through oil like crazy. I Never buy a VW!
