Only 2k miles. Engine light is on repeatedly with poor performance. Visited the dealership EIGHT TIMES for the same issue. They replaced the engine harness...ON A NEW CAR???? Now the cruise control stopped working and more "warning lights". Great concept...POOR POOR POOR execution by VW.

Look, you are reading this review because you care about what others think. If you have an active family and need storage space for kids and stuff, the VW Atlas is for you. The storage capacity is amazing! If you have more than two kids, the VW Atlas is for you. You can actually use the third row with the VW Atlas; imagine that! You might be wondering why we bought the VW Atlas. When it comes to driving experience (ride, handling, braking, seating comfort, infotainment), the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander dont compete. I dont know what it is about the Japanese car makers, but they werent in tune with that for which I was looking. VW nailed it! Im 62" and weigh in at 215; I fit in the VW Atlas. I felt cramped in the Pilot and Highlander. Could have that spoiled my driving experience? Sure. Ill concede that point, but take a corner in the Atlas and the same corner in the Pilot; you will know exactly what Im talking about. If you are looking for navigation and rear seat entertainment, all you need is a decent smart phone and a couple of tablets. Youll save thousands on your car purchase by avoiding Nav systems and DVD players. Worried about real leather? Maybe you should be looking at Acura or Lexus. You have kids, and you want the best for your money. If you dont buy the VW Atlas, you have other priorities that I simply dont have. You want three useable rows of seating? You want incredible storage capacity? You want state of the art safety technology? You want a solid, safe ride? You want all of that in one package? You want a VW Atlas!

Not our first VW and were impressed with the Atlas overall. Highlights include superior infotainment (native and Android Auto) and user interface, excellent lighting everywhere (interior and exterior), simplistic and elegant interior design, roomy as hell for 7, superior ride quality, and sporty looks. The not-so-great: engine often feels a bit eager to provide too much power at lower speeds, keyless entry is uber-sensitive and will not work as expected if fob is in denim pockets or the wifes purse, gas tank a bit smallish for SUV this size. Otherwise its an impressive SUV and we receive compliments all the time. If youre into lights (e.g. DRLs, LEDs, etc.) this is the SUV for you as VW apparently has a thing for it. It stands on its own without trying to imitate Audi whatsoever. The brakes on this thing are impeccable and features like remote-start were standard. VWs got a home run with Atlas.

$50K for a basic car! Does not have any instrumentation! No TPMS! No Battery Volt Gauge, No Engine Oil Pressure, No Engine Oil temp, No Trans temp. Horrible gas mileage 22 hwy 15 city. Three dealerships and no one knows anything about this SUV?! The service dept does not know anything the parts department the sales department. DO NOT BUY! You can buy a basic toyota, honda subaru ford chevy anything and get critical gauges and TPMS!

  • Technology edition my ass!! - 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

This vehicles technology is junk. How can they possible consider it a technology edition when doesnt even come with a garage door opener. I am a andriod user and expect the technology to blend seamlessly however this is not the case. I am still waiting for manufactures to give up on their proprietary software and use opensource so the professionals can give the people exactly what they want. What I want is a display that mirrors my phone exactly is that too much to ask. I have this in my 2006 toyota solara it can be done. This is my first day owning this vehicle that makes my KIA Optima look like a Lexus. The interior is barebones, sure it has leather and holds 8 people but I think I would have enjoyed a Buick Enclave more. Now I have 3 yrs of lease on a generic POS. I had high hopes and now believe I made a huge mistake. * update VW still sucks, I should have waited the new Buick Enclave looks much better for the money.

  • Meets all my requirements - 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

Car meets all my needs for roominess, safety technology, straightforward design and controls, comfort and quietness. However, at 4500 miles needed a front strut replaced. Carplay is buggy trying to listen to radio and navigate at same time. It wont run Waze. The turn signal light and blind spot warning are very close together on mirror and same color -hard to tell apart- not safe that way. Back up camera not bright enough when dark and rainy. Audible warning in backup should be standard with tech package. Overall its still the best choice for me after looking at all its competitors.

  • The new car that drives like an old car..... - 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

I purchase the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SE back on August 19, 2017. After having it 3 days, I had to bring it in to service for severe shaking at speeds over 40mph and a whining noise when accelerating from stop. The performed wheel balance and gave it back without testing. Problems still existed. Took it back and this time I was told I had 2 bad tires. They replaced the 2 tires and told me that would fix the whining noise and shaking. Problems still existed. Started noticing a rattle from the driver front end when driving over rough terrain at a slow speed. Took it in again and was told there were loose bolts under the dash and they couldnt recreate the whining noise (Ive submitted several recordings but they ignore). Problems still exist. Get VW Corporate involved.....they have QTM come out only to tell me the vehicle is operating according to specs. Received it back with same problems. I decided to try a different dealership in hopes to get this resolved. After over of month of waiting, I get and appointment. I did a test drive and was able to show the service guy all problems. QTM came back and said there were loose bolts on the sway bar link; so I guess they changed or tightened them. I was told again that they were not able to recreate the whining noise. My guess is that they dont have a clue what that issue is. Anyways after 12 days in the shop, my vehicle still has the same problems. Tried to initiate a buy back with VW and was denied. They recommend me bring it back in to service. I wasted enough time with this vehicle and is beyond exhausted. I also get the metal to metal rattle form the engine when powering off, A/C sometimes doesnt work, radio glitches and the plastic on the outside is loose in several places. I will most likely hire an attorney to file a lemon law claim. I wanted to be sure that I can at least spare someone of the headaches this vehicle and VW has caused for my family and I. Yes it comes with 6 year 72,000 mile warranty, but the service departments are not prepared to address issues with this vehicle. This makes the warranty useless.

  • 2018 VW Atlas R-line - 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

This is one if the best looking SUV on the market. Acceleration is great. Off-road this SUV is outstanding. Cargo space is unbelievable. The adaptive cruise control and Apple CarPlay is worth every penny I paid for this car. The one complaint I have is with the rear view mirror. It doesn’t look good at all. It is too small. It looks like they forgot about the rear view mirror and decided to take the Jerta’s Mirror and installed it on the Atlas. Other than that, the car is wonderful!

A great SUV except engine is underpowered. Everything was great once we sat inside and reviewed the features. Once on the road that was the deal breaker. Engine needs some more horsepower.

  • Perfect family ride - 2018 Volkswagen Atlas
    By -

This vehicle is the perfect car for our family while maintaining a stylish look. Plenty of room for 3 car seats across the middle row and easy access to the third row. The multi zone climate control is a great feature as well as the Apple car play. Overall we love our Atlas!
