Overview & Reviews
SR5 models have new 16-inch wheels, and a limited-slip differential is available on V8-powered trucks. No other changes are in store for the 2002 Toyota Tundra.
- Silky V8, Toyota build quality, less-than-full-size maneuverability.
- Lacks wide range of choice offered by domestics, somewhat uncomfortable front seats, meager rear cab room on Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

Good Value, Great Ride for a Truck!! - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By pepjrp - December 8 - 3:20 pmThis truck drives and rides great, much better than most in this category. I use it for light hauling, mostly yardwork and home remodeling supplies. It really fits this need very well. I would not want to tow a very big trailer with the V6 though. Interior is great, good design, fit and finish. Plenty of room for my family of 3.

Tundra review - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By xman1035 - October 8 - 2:00 amI recently purchased the Tundra and its a quality made truck. Its not as roomy as the Dodge 1500 Quad Cab or the GM/Chevy Silverado XCab. The engine is smooth, extremely quiet, and has lots of power-245hp. A supercharger should be available by Toyota Racing Development(TRD) that will boost the horsepower to 345 hp.

Wonderful Truck - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By Greg - February 3 - 4:46 pmI am very happy with this truck. It rides great, handles good and is very quiet and comfortable. I have a 91 Toyota truck with 191,000 miles on it and that one runs almost perfect. I cant imagine purchasing anything but a Toyota. I am confident this truck will go at least 200K without needing any repairs.

check vibration - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By smithdog - September 2 - 10:00 amToyota tundra has vibration issues in floorboard thru the arm rest.. Do a thorough test drive before considering purchase. Different vehicles vibrate in the driveshaft at different speeds. V6 more at low speds and V8 more at high speeds.

Happy with My Tundra - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By Jango Barks - May 8 - 12:06 pmI bought my Tundra following a terrible front-end collision. Well beyond its crash rating, my Tundra meets my needs beautifully.

Best truck for the money - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By tommy - November 9 - 4:23 amMy truck has been a great ride for almost four years now. Everything continues to offer a smooth experience - except for the disfunctional cupholder. Low noise, decent on gas, no mechanical problems to speak of.

Typical Toyota - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By Mike Noble - July 4 - 2:00 amThe V8 runs very well, but a little underpowered. Needs VVT valve technology to get the power up. Heater system inadequate. Not enough air, and to the wrong places. Build quality typical Toyota (very good). Needs a little help with transmission logic. 2 to 1 downshift at low speeds annoying, especially on slipery surfaces. Overall, a good reliable pickup, if youre not doing "full sized" chores. This is NOT a full size pickup. But then again, I bought it because it wasnt full sized.

Typically Toyota - 2002 Toyota Tundra
By kwjones - March 20 - 2:00 amThis is a "Limosine in Trucks Clothing" The Tundra is typically Toyota in quality and reliability. It does everything you expect it to do, and does it very well. The Tundra has one of the highest crash ratings in the light truck industry, and that proved to be very important to me, when another driver passed out at the wheel and hit me nearly head on. I walked away from the almost totaled Tundra, and immediantly bought another one. Thanks Toyota for making it "one tough truck".
