This Year's Model Updates:

SR5 models have new 16-inch wheels, and a limited-slip differential is available on V8-powered trucks. No other changes are in store for the 2002 Toyota Tundra.

Pros:
  • Silky V8, Toyota build quality, less-than-full-size maneuverability.
Cons:
  • Lacks wide range of choice offered by domestics, somewhat uncomfortable front seats, meager rear cab room on Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

  • A Great Truck - 2002 Toyota Tundra

I bought this truck new in Sept. 2001. It now has 64K and it still runs like it is brand new. I have had very few problems. I would recommend this truck to anyone. I had to have the O2 sensors replaced (recall) and the lower ball joints replaced (recall). The drivers sideview mirror had to be replaced because it rattled (under warranty). The only thing that Ive had to pay for is the interior light switch on the drivers side. It was only $100.00. The dealership has always been very helpful and friendly. There are no squeaks or rattles anywhere. This truck was built to last. The engine is very smooth, responsive and quiet. The V8 engine is amazing.

  • V6 powerhouse AT smooth ride - 2002 Toyota Tundra

Truck rides like a Camry. V6 is more than enough power to drive straight up inclines in Vermont hills! MPG 21 or better if you drive the speed limit. I have only changed the oil. My first truck, would buy again! Toyota quality and great resale market for this truck. Lots of room for a very tall guy.

  • Not as good as past Toyotas - 2002 Toyota Tundra

Ive had 2 Toyotas in the past, and the new ones are living on that reputation. Its still a great truck compared to the other low quality trucks on the market, but still not even close to the same quality as past Toyotas. The 18 MPG really stinks, especially for a V- 6, the cargo light has to be turned off before getting out of the truck to keep from running the batt. down., the seatbelts seem really cheap, the paint seems very thin, and brittle, the cheap plastic tailgate handle broke and costs a fortune to replace. Its still a good truck, but like others here I just expected a heck of a lot more out of Toyota than this. IMHO we keep buying higher $$$ for cheaper quality. Will we learn?

I purchased this truck new about 8 years ago. I love my truck. V-8 is always responsive, no hesitation, a/c works great even in south Mississippi summers. Transmission is as flawless as the day it was born. The interior has held up wonderfully, only one temp control knob has split on the inside, looking for a new one! On long trips, its good for about 8 hours before my back gets sore. Exterior has also held up well due to frequent oil changes, tire rotations and wash and wax frequently and this truck will last. No rust. Bed is smaller than a full size pickup, but this is great for parking and moving small loads. Big loads I use the trailer hitch and find a trailer.

I have owned my toyota tundra for almost 8 months now. I love it, the only critsim I have is the turning radius is way to small compared to other vehicles in this class.

  • Love IT!! - 2002 Toyota Tundra

I Love my Tundra and would like to be buried with it. After having this truck I feel really weird going on the highway in other vehicles, b/c of the noise reduction and comfort Ive had with my Tundra. Though it chugs gas you really cant buy one of these w/o expecting to pay out.

Truck has been totally trouble free. Everything is very well thought out. It drives almost exactly the same as when I drove it off the lot. The engine is quiet and very smooth and the suspension is awesome: it drives the same whether the bed is empty or filled to its capacity. Its become an old friend.

  • Best Truck Made - 2002 Toyota Tundra

I have had my Tundra for 2 years. Smartest buy I ever made. It will even outlast my wife :). I was skeptical buying a used truck from a lot but the Tundra really is a great ride. It has power. You really feel safe in the truck in the TX storms. Ive never brought it for service except for one recall and oil changes. If your in the market for a reliable used truck that can do the "job" then the Tundra should be on the top of your list. You wont be disappointed.

  • 3/4 size - 2002 Toyota Tundra

I have owned my 01 Tundra for a year and prior to that a 96 Chevy. The ability to tow heavy loads is a major factor for my truck usage and the Tundra does a superb job, as well as my Chevy did. Compared to the cab of my Chevy, the Tundra is a bit more cramped. The size is a plus for everyday driving though and manuevering in parking lots is much easier than my Chevy was. The rear seat is adequate for my kids and I average 15 mpg.

  • Best Truck on the Road! - 2002 Toyota Tundra

I purchased a champaign colored Tundra with sports package and added a black leather soft top. I get so many compliments on the look and style of my truck. The truck has been perfectly reliable since I have owned it. The truck is powerful. It looks and sounds like a tough truck but drives and handles like a car.
