Newly optional on Limited is a package that matches the bumpers and tailgate handle to the body color. The TRD Off-Road package is now available on Access Cabs with a V8 engine, while models equipped with a V6 receive an upgraded alternator. A note-pad holder is now optional on SR5 and Limited, while Base regular cab trucks lose their standard cassette player. Two new colors are available, filling three slots left vacant by old colors that have been discontinued.

• Lacks wide range of choice offered by domestics, somewhat uncomfortable front seats, meager rear cab room on Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

  My Best Vehicle Ever! - 2001 Toyota Tundra

  I bought mine new and currently have 190,000 miles on the truck. I have replaced the timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt and and the power steering lines, all around 100K. Other than the regular maint stuff there have been NO problems only some rattles, which are because of the 2 miles of washboard road that I have driven over 6 days/ week for the last 3 years (plus driving through a small river to boot). It is the Lexus of trucks and I plan on reaching 300,000 if I continue to run synthetic oils. No real towing besides a 2500 mile move pulling a 7000lb trailer. I love this truck, and nearly bought another 2001 last year.

  As the owner of a service company I have a chance to drive a Ford F150, Dodge Dakota, a Nissan and the Tundra. The Tundra has a better feel for the road and controls that are natural to use. When you change trucks its a pain when you cant find the radio knob without looking down. The tundra also gets better gas mileage than the ford and Dodge.

  I have had no regrets buying this truck and get many compliments on it. After 2 years truck is very solid and gas mileage is not too bad for a large vehicle (I get 17 mpg hwy/cty combined). Was very pleased with crash test results compared to other trucks. Only problems to mention are weak and easy to warp brake rotors (I am very easy on the brakes too!), plastic trim piece that houses radio, etc. that pops and makes noise when it is cold, some valve train noise when cold (typical japanese), and a squeaking noise from somewhere under the hood when cold. Most of these are not terrible things but ones I have noticed over time.

  drove this truck since i bought it has 127,500miles on it, so far so good,fell like a new luxury sedan.full power,good ac,good sound system(tape/cd), it will last long.no issues. save lots of money

  I bought this truck used with only 5,000 miles on it. After a year of ownership, I hate driving anything else. It is great to drive and feels very solid in all conditions. We also have a lexus RX300, and I still prefer to drive the truck. It rides so smooth and the quietness of the cabin is amazing.

  I work for a rental company, so I drive Fords, Chevys, and Dodges all day. None of them come even close to the quality and quiet ride of my Tundra. The handling in the mountains is also something that is unmatched. No other truck has the low rumble sounding exhaust like my Tundra. For the first few months, I still could not believe that it was a Toyota.

  I have had this truck for 4 years and 84,000 miles and I still love it. It is still just like the day I bought it, minus the fact that I have just about scrapped all the paint out of the bed. It is smooth, quiet, roomy, and fast like a luxury sedan, but tougher than any other half ton that I have ever driven. It gets 17-18 mpg on average. Thats a good combination of city, highway, and interstate. It can get as low as 14 mpg if you have a heavy foot.

  We waited for 2 years to decide between the silverado and the Tundra. Our last truck was a Toyota 1986 just sold it. This truck rides like a car not a lumber wagon. I know my grandkids will end up driving this truck. My son of 4 when we bought the 86 is now 17 and drove the truck for 2 years. Very reliable!!
